I won't argue that for Dj practice these are a great low-price choice. Even if you just want good content consumption near-fields these are a great low-price choice. If you think you can get these for any accurate production work, I would highly advise you against that. These are not reference speakers in the slightest. Their tuning is just too colored. The bass is rich, while still maintaining decent mids and slightly boosted highs. It's a V shaped tune. The highs do miss small details though, but only to a decerning ear. For 4in near-fields at this price tag you can't go wrong for the two reasons mentioned above. I plan to get the Alesis Elevate 5 MKII Active Studio Monitors from zZounds to use as reference speakers, but I'm keeping these. The Pioneers serve their purpose. *I have these hooked up to a Schiit Magni Heresy. It does give them quite the extra umf.

Decent sounding. Knock really loud. low end is muddy. so anything with a certain amount of bass wouldn't stand up well with these speakers. if you are using them to practice djing in the bedroom. then by all means these will be GREAT!
