First, kudos to the Customer Service department. I bought a blem set, and it was missing the snare. They sent me a brand new kit at no extra charge. I did have to go through the hassle of repacking and returning the blem kit, but what a deal ! Ok, I needed a small kit for practice. I play on a nice Ludwig, and I have had a great Mapex Pro set also. This little Roadshow can't really compare, but for the price it can't be beat. Yes, you want different heads.I like Evans Hydraulics for the toms. Also, a couple Drumclips here and there help damp out excessive resonance, which helps. The snare is not bad as it comes. Tune it up a little higher than you think and its fine. Maybe a towel or a pillow in the kick and you're good to go. Oh, flip the hihats, put the bottom on top, it really helps. The crash/ride it comes with is ok. I added a splash on a cymbal arm I bought that I mounted on the tom arm and its all I need to practice on. If you changed out the cymbals to real bronze stuff you would have a really nice sounding easy to gig kit that sounds so much better than you would think.

I picked up this kit in metallic charcoal and I couldn't be more pleased with the color. It looks better in person and comes with all the hardware...cyapbeit(albeit poor quality cymbals) snare stand, throne,hi hat stand, cymbal stand, snare stand, and the double chain pedal it comes with is a very solid pedal. It also comes with a stick bag 2 pairs of sticks and a drum key. For the price of 380$ there is no better value for everything your getting. That being said don't think this is a cheap drum set. The set itself is top of the line and perfect for jazz and classic rock styles. The only additional thing I would suggest is better cymbals and eventually you will have to change the heads. Other than that overall I think this is a great little kit for a great price.

Bought this kit for a smaller footprint on our church stage and for portability, let me tell you with a couple moon gels and tuning these sound excellent right out of the box! The hardware is pretty solid...the cymbals are junk (which I expected) For under $400 you get a solid kit.....you won't be disappointed.

"Hardware.. Good. Shells.. Meh."

First off, I don’t blame zZounds for any part of my review, I’ve always had a good experience with their service. But...Make sure your home to access the shipping damage from FedEx, I wasn’t home when this was delivered and it had 3 big gouges through the box and was put on my porch upside down because the bottom of the box was ripped open. Everything was still in there but the floor tom shell was cracked and both bass drum hoops were bent/crushed out of round like they pushed it off a dock somewhere or off of the delivery truck. The hardware is excellent for a beginner kit, the wrap on the shells looks great but the shells and lugs are not great.. while looking at the damage to the floor tom I removed one of the lugs, the walls are paper thin on them and feel like they are made out of plastic. While tuning the rack tom, I pushed down on the center of the drum head and the screw to the lug shot out on one of them stripping the threaded hole in the lug.I wasn’t expecting too much from a cheap kit but I’ve bought cheaper for half the price of this kit and have had no issues.I bought this so I could leave it at my rehearsal space and leave my vintage kit at home to reduce wear and tear on it so I decided to keep it with all its issues just for a beater kit.. I might have just gotten a lemon but I will not buy another low end Pearl kit.

I bought this kit for my small home studio. It's compact and sounds great. It's size makes it versitile for adults or children. For the price this kit is hard to beat!!
