"Incredibly powerful with Reason"

With the addition of Reason's new features as a full-fledged DAW/synth working environment, the combination of Reason 7 and the Panorama P1 is incredibly powerful. The integration is straightforward, comprehensive, easy to use, and works exactly as advertised, transforming Reason into a direct, hardware-based experience yet with all the power of a modern day DAW and software synth workstation. The only weakness with the P1 right now is documentation... I had a few installation issues but my email inquiries to Nektar resolved the problem in a quick and friendly manner. I can't say enough about what Nektar has achieved with the Reason integration.. I've tried older solutions like Novation Automap and they are junk compared to this. I don't use Cubase but I assume the integration and performance is on the same level. Build quality is good, not top level like say a Mackie Control but everything feels solid enough with adequate resistance for knobs and faders. You can certainly do much worse at a $299 price point. The display is bright, sharp, and very clear. I hope Nektar is around for a long time, they really are nailing what people need in a reasonably priced DAW controller.

"Reason loves this!"

I'm a semi-retired engineer and producer, I've worked at Sony, Capitol, A&M and a few other major Hollywood studios. Having much experience in recording and behind some of the biggest and best mixing consoles has caused me to be a bit picky so my review might be a little harsh. But I must say that this little buggar tracks very fast and offers much more control for the modern engineer, making mixing much easier and sensible. Since the board only offers a version of 8 tracks per page I would have a "page" button rather than a track+ and a track- button. I would also increase its ability to adjust more track controls on the fly rather than one track adjustment at a time. Yes... only one track at a time! But for the price and along with its excellent software integration this is a somewhat forgivable oversight. There definitely are some wonderful goodies under the hood here. Each synth can be setup to control a myiad of parameters, and a few major ones can be programmed to adjust on the fly which makes adjusting tones much easier than just toying through these items with a mouse. The same pretty much holds true with having instant control over each of other devices in the rack. A larger screen with more visible parameters per page and a full drum pad assortment would've been a nice addition. But maybe they will have these with their next upgraded version of this controller. Setting tracks hot and recording instruments live have finally become a reality with Reason if used with the Nektar P1. I've looked at a few other hardware devices before purchasing this and agree that it is the most suitable piece of gear for the modern recording artist or enthusiast using Reason. All-in all I would say that every user of Propellerheads Reason should have this.

"Incredible Cubase Integration"

Everything is fairly intuitive once set up (though make sure you follow the setup instructions). The Cubase integration is great, and I find myself reaching for the mouse much less than usual. Most of the major VSTs are mapped where it makes sense, and you have standard control of those where mapping is impossible. Well worth the purchase.

I think that the P1 is a great device I’ve been using it for a while now and it has improved work flow in my studio with reason. however it’s not as compatible as it claims to be. Maybe in it’s eariler years but now the only thing you will get out of this device is faders and a big transport device. Device mapping is no longer supported with reason along with quick key set up so you never truly get to experience the power of the device because of it and when I emailed support they just simply said “Macro functions are not supported in MacOS 10.11 or later.” and didn’t say if a fix was coming or not.

Had the Panorama T4. It offered layers of integration, but (see review). This is a total game changer. Where was I in the world 5 years ago? Stuck on stupid controllers, that's exactly where!!! Never again. Thank you for all you offer Nektar, from your promise, to your support
