"PERFECT!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
great amp, really love it, does everything i want it to do, tapping and pinch harmonics come out really clear on this amp
Sound
I got this amp because of the distortion, not to heavy, but will scream, with my fender fat strat, i can get the perfect Megadeth sound. The clean is well, clean, really nice, has a nice punch
Features
Came with the footswitch which is really nice because i had to play once without it, and having the pedal was so much better. the digital fx are great, i used to play through my bros ME-50, and the effects that, that pedal has, sounds just like the ones on the amp
Ease of Use
theres a lot of knobs, but once you get it dialed in, it never needs to be adjusted
Quality
1) its a Marshall 2)it looks like its really well made, every screw looks like its in tight
Value
well, i got this for christmas, so no cost to me, but for 600$ it is definately worth it
Manufacturer Support
never had to deal with em
The Wow Factor
i got the limited edition red, it looks like a retro amp, somethin that jimi would play back in the late 60's early 70's

"Toy & Companion"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will never sell or get rid of this amp. I will keep it forever. It's one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's a wonderful toy and companion.
Sound
This amp is warm with a clear range of sounds. The sound responds beautifully to my playing with or without effects. It's a great amp for recording and it can handle a beating &/or serious abuse. It's wonderful.
Features
I love the effects that are included in the amp. While they are not all-encompassing, they add a lot to the practicality of having an amp and not needing to fuss too much with all the other stuff.
Quality
I love the quality. It's perfect. It's built to last forever!
Value
The product is worth it's typical selling price, but I hate to pay full price for anything. This amp is worth the money.
Manufacturer Support
The company was great. Easy to deal with. No major hassles or problems. I had to wait for my amp while it was being manufactured, but after that everything was smooth sailing.
The Wow Factor
I love marshall. They are sexy amps. They look good and have the character that you need for good playing. They are also practical. you can't go wrong with a marshall.

"Good for the price! Good sound and value"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
If i were to need another stack I would probably save up for a more expensive all tube head, but if it were stolen i would replace it. It helps me because like i mentioned i use a preamp and if you don't have one and are thinking about this amp, get one! it will make all the difference in the world to the sounds and response you get from this amp.
Sound
Sound is good...although i do run a Vox tonelab as a preamp so that gives it a very good , almost "tube tone". Can be very loud if thats what you're going for! can get some classic marshall tones out of it with a little work
Features
cheap effects, cheap sounding reverb. efeects should not all be on the same knob. but the sound without the effects is pretty good. like i said...use a preamp or some kind of pedal.
Ease of Use
very easy to use
Quality
not up to marshall standards in my book, but its half the price of the next marshall stack
Value
good value, not a pro-grade marshall but good for gigging on weekends like i use it for.
Manufacturer Support
havn't needed it
The Wow Factor
every other guitar player i gig with wants to use it after i play it! looks good for mini sized stack....gets very good traditional tube sound with the right settings and good ear...

"Don't let them fool you, it looks like a Marshall and sounds like a Marshall.... It IS a Marshall!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
a loooong time ago I bought a second hand JCM 800, played on it for about 12 years, and sold it again. It was still in great shape! I hope and think this one will last just as long. It can do anything the JCM 800 could plus a whole lot more. What I like most is the way you can switch between 2 complete diferent sounds with complete diferent volume. I'm the only guitarrist in the band and if I stop playing the rythm part I need a much more dominating sound for the solo's, and this amp does it super. I like to have a natural clean sound, or a natural distorted sound (like AC/DC) for rythm, and the solo's with quiet a bit of distorcion, some delay and some reverb (Eddy van Halen-like) and it all just comes out of this one amplifier. If I would loose this one, I'd buy it again!
Sound
Have to take some time toget to know this baby (lots of posibilities), but with the crunch on the clean channel, lost of trebble, lots of bass and very little mid, this amp sounds just like the JCM 800. But it's got a nice reverb that my old JCM didn't have. When I stepp on both switches at the same moment, I change to OD2 with some chorus/delay and I got a super solosound, but with much more volume that the rythm sound I use. Just what I needed. Trew away all my effects, don't need them anymore... (except for the crybaby, ha, ha!)
Features
Souns great clean, dirty or heavy, whatever you want. Only reason for not giving it a 10 is that you can't change the voltage at the back like you could on the oldies (bought it in Holland, but live on a 110 volt island, so I need to use a transformator)
Quality
Mine has been on stage 3 or 4 times a week for nearly 2 years. Never had any problems with it. Don't have and never needed a back-up. And for all you crybabies: I never hear the fan (and if you only play in your bedroom at a volume so low that you could hear a fan, you shouldn't buy a 100 watt Marshall!!!)
Value
It's worth every cent that I paid for it and quiet a bit more I think. Imagine you go to a shop with only $400.00 in your pocket and you need a profesional piece of equipment. If it wouldn't be the 100HDFX, what else could you get for that price?
Manufacturer Support
Never had to call them. So far I didn't need any repairs, service or upgrades. I treat my amp with love and respect and she pays me back with loads of Rock & Roll. And, no mather what other people say: it's a Marshall. It's build by the father of loud. I trust it a 100%.
The Wow Factor
Looks nice, black and gold with the white logo, just like it should be. (like every Rolls has an angle) Pitty they didn't put the amp on the bottom of the case and the black on top of it, like all the other heads. It just makes the amp look a little diferent than the other ones and people who want you to know how much they know about amps, ask you: oh that's the cheap one you've got there?

"A nice substitute for the Classic Marshall (SL100)"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I have now owned this unit for over a year and it continues to sound good and reliability is never questioned.
Sound
The sound is great at the low end however at the high end the unit gets brittle. this can be remedied by using tube accesory from boss plug in systems.
Features
The effects are limited however the crunch and overdrive really hammer out the sound. Despite the lower end Celestions (lighter magnets) the unit is capable and has little distortion and not muddied.
Quality
Compared to my English made MArshall counterparts, the MD series is pretty rugged.
Value
The price was right for this unit. I don't have to worry about taking this unit to an engagement knowing my collectibles are safe at home.
Manufacturer Support
I called the company tech person 1 time to ask about adding MIDI type equipment. Very helpful to the point of adding too much information.
The Wow Factor
This unit is back up for practice sessions.

I expect this amp to last for a lifetime
Sound
The sound is great I have cranked the amp up and it sounds as good on 1 and it does on 10. I dont play as much as I like but I have many musician friends that have come played on it and love the way it sounds.
Ease of Use
This sounds great out of the box and the instruction manual guides you through several settings to get just about every sound you want from it
Quality
This is a very strong built amp. I exoect it to out last my guitars. I would take this amp anywhere and not expect any trouble out of it

This amp is a pissen beast. I will use this for a very long time. It really helps me with my music. Anyone who is looking for an amazing amp and an amazing price. Here is your chance.
Sound
I love it, it's not the best. But I play Sum 41 and Yellowcard and it works amazingly well.
Features
I really love the flanger and I use it the most. I haven't used the others as much but it all kicks butt.
Ease of Use
I just used the manual reccomends and it works way well. But I haven't tried to find my own sounds. But this has an amazing price.
Quality
I didn't buy it here and it diddn't work I was pissed off. But I got a new one then I loved it. It's kinda about luck for a working amp.
Value
The price is amazing for this amp. It's really close to a tube amp. Very good.
Manufacturer Support
No, I never delt with marshall. But I got a new one from Murdock Music.

"THIS AMP IS A SCREAMER! Great sound - Great value!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I get the sounds I want from this amp. It's the Marshall sound you hear on all the great rock bands!
Sound
The clean channel allows you to dial in some of the sweetest (and dare I say tube) sounds I have heard on a solid state amp. Both my Les Paul & Strat sound incredible. The amp is extremely responsive to every nuance you put in your phrasing. Sweet...sweet...sweet! The crunch and overdrive channels produce the classic Marshall GROOAAAR on the Les Paul with punch, balls and clarity all in one. Not so on the Strat where the crunch and OD channels sound artificial. I have run this Marshall head with my Line6 POD both on the Les Paul and the Strat and the sound just SMOKIN ROCKIN. The absolute BEST sounds on this amp are from an external stomp box which make me sound like Eddie Van Hallen or Ritchie Sambora. Balls to the wall sound for sure will please any hard rocker!
Features
The digital delay and reverb are studio quality and make your playing sound big. It could use a better flange and chorus but you can add stomp boxes for those or rack units.
Quality
Marshall quality!
Value
I opted to buy the 1960A 4x12 cab (300W) with this head. It's the best cabinet out there and the extra few hundred bucks are well spent imo.
The Wow Factor
It's great lookin and sounds awesome!

"Music marvel for a low low price."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If the product was stolen I have it insured because I play shows and such it's the best bet but I would buy the same product again in a heart beat. I plan on buying other amps in the future but not to replace it for practice sake when I'm not on the road; for when i'm playing alone at home.
Sound
The Bomb! In the past I used a fender rock pro 100 which is a peace of junk and never sounded the way i wanted and always sounded way to trebly. Up until the day I bought this amp I was reluctant about marshall amps, not because of reputation but because of sound. Every one i played sounded way to trebly as well. I walked into a music store where I live and played and loved it. Bought it that very day. Never had any issues with it it does the trick ever time.
Features
The foot-pedal is handy and works which is all it's soposed to do. the fx in it are alright i have the pedals so really there no use for them. But for one who has no pedals they would be great.
Ease of Use
If you know the sound you want all you have to do is change the settings a little.
Quality
Great! the product has never failed me as my amps in the past have. Now the issue originally was the transportation of the amp but you can put casters on the amp but i do not suggest putting them on the amp it self. if you buy the casters that you screw in with four screws eventually those screws will strip and the casters will fall off. and if you buy the casters that screw into it with and you fasten with a washer and a nut, eventually it will where down the particle board and crack the base of the cab and break also especially if you tour. I built a ATA style case for transport and it works great.
Value
I could not believe how much this amp was such a good price for the product.
Manufacturer Support
I emailed marshall regarding the casters and the warranty and the got back to me within 5 min and even when I replied back and midnight i got a personal email back regarding my second question within a hour.
The Wow Factor
I looks amazing ( i got the special edition red) and can get the mojo going. and it sound so good.

"Listen Carefully Before Buying"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'm gettin an all tube Hot Rod Deluxe for a slightly larger outlay as soon as possible, if it was stolen I wouldn't miss it. A a valve in the preamp (a la AVT50H) would yield a huge improvemtn tone wise I would think. Listen carefully and consider all your options before buying this amp. That said don't think that all tube amps will be superior, I played an all tube 5w crate the other day which had the same distortion problems as this, and cost about half the price but with no reverb, channel switching ability or effects mixer. Its not a bad amp to gig with, especially for a rhythm guitarist.
Sound
This amp has one of the best solid state distortions I have heard, but still there is a noticable fizz and grain to the sound which detracts from the quality, only really noticable when playing lead. Still it is noticable and this is what seperates the sound of this amp from a quality tubeamp. I tried playin this through the line out and then into a converted tube stereo and it removed this fizz and it sounded very good. Perhaps a tube preamp in the effects loop would improve the sound in this respect. I am building such a preamp and will post the result soon. It is loud enough to gig anywhere, and sounds good with the rest of my band, playing rock, pop rock and blues. I play with a Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus with a Dimarzio air norton in the bridge position, sounds decent with a single and a humbucker. I'm upgrading to a Fender Hot Rod Rod Deluxe soon as I think tubes are the way to go for tone.
Features
More than I want, with some fairly okish effects. All the knobs mean it is very possible to dial in a bad sound. The more useful features are reverb, effects loop, switchable gain levels on both channels (annoyingly un-footswitchable though). I think this amp would be better simpler and players could have better quality effects pedals in the effects loop according to their taste. Tremolo would've been a useful one built in though.
Ease of Use
Its fairly easy to get a good sound, the manual has some suggestions, then you can tweak to taste. Controls are laid out in the traditional fashion. The contour is a very useful control and an easy way to change the whole character of the amp, from woody traditional with the knob at minimum, modern from 12 o clock onwards.
Quality
I predict this amp would last a long time, gigging or not. Solid as a rock, thick plywood construction, no flex in anything. Manufacturing looks absolutely top-knotch, flawless. Only inferior aspect in comparison with other marshalls is the brass has a bit of a grain to it, not really an issue though.
Value
Yes it is, compared to other solid-state amps, line six products for example, however I think a smaller tube amp for around the same price is a better option.
Manufacturer Support
Never needed anything, only thing I can see needing a service are possibly fuses as they are internal and removing the chassis voids the warranty.
The Wow Factor
Its a marshall!! It looks pretty dang staunch, especially if you put some castors on the cab, bringing it close to the height of other half stacks. Its big, and loud.

i may replace it in the future for maybe something more appealing but i will have to wait and see........but for now i can say its got balls......tonewise.....but volume......not very loud.....when its on 10 i can still hear the voices in my head :)
Sound
Wow, for a cheap amp you get expensive tone and quality. The tone of this will sh*t on any other amp to date. if you take your time on the tones you with the tones you will find a sound that suits any style.
Features
FX - the effects are a great add-on to the the great tone. Many different to choose from but they are very simple. But not to keen on the reverb
Quality
Pretty tougth amp.......foot pedal is a let down as it is so flimsy....

"Worth the price, but don't expect tube tone"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I bought it back when I didn't have the money for a tube marshall half stack. If it got stolen, I'd save up and get a JCM2000.
Sound
First, you cannot expect a solid state amp to give you a true tube tone. I have owned several tube amps and the tube emulation of this amp doesn't sound like tubes. However, solid state amps are better than tube amps in certain applications. If you are looking for a slightly compressed, crystal clear guitar sound that makes your stompboxes sound incredible, then this amp (or if you have the money, a Roland Jazz Chorus 120) is perfect for you. The distortion sounds good but I have heard better through high end Marshall stacks. For this price though, you definitely get your money's worth.
Features
I only give the features a 7 because the digital effects have horrible controls and the tube emulation doesn't pass off as real tube sound. It's next to impossible to dial in the exact delay time you want and there's no way to control the amount of decay. Basically, don't let the built-in effects be the reason for you to buy this amp.
Ease of Use
No need to read the manual for this one.
Quality
I've had it about a year and the only issue with it so far is that the master volume pot needs replacement.
Value

as long as i play my guitar through this amp is how long i will be satisfied with it
Sound
i'd say that this amp is quite the powerfull little bugger. i've been using a peavey tube amplifier for the last 8 years and it finally couldnt handle me anymore and this new half stack can amply handle me and my sounds.
Features
the footswitch is adequate for the dfx i think it could've been a little better if it had maybe a knob on the pedal to adjust the dfx
Value
i think that its well worth the money for this powerful amp. no doubt in my mind that i love it because it wasn't so expensive and because it sounds so great.

Another product? MG is great
Sound
Sounds Unbelieveable! the clean channel is way better than i thought it would be! i knew the OD/DIST would kick @ss cause, it's a Marshall. the only things i'd change: give clean channel a volume, give the 2nd OD a little more kick, and lower the volume of the effects, they give a boost that should be controllable, but not a big deal.
Features
Really nice, the effects are cool, but no phaser or tremelo, (not complaining)

I have a hard time getting this to give me the exact sound I'm looking for. Admittedly, I don't know too much about amps, but I wasn't overly impressed with the sound of this.
Features
foot switch is all that's needed.
Ease of Use
knobs are a bit too close together, getting the right sound is tough sometimes.
Quality
i'm sure this amp will last me a while, but i'm not sure that i'm going to want to keep it around for a while.
Value
for the price, it's pretty great. can't really buy a half stack for cheaper than this.

"A Very Good Value For The Money"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It should last indefinately with proper use and care. I would buy another one if I lost mine for some reason.
Sound
The only reason I don't give this amp a 10 for sound quality is because I also own a Marshall tube head stack which, in my opinion, is the ultimate. This is an amazing system for the money and capable of performing for any reasonable size venue. I play a "Paul", a Telecaster and a Epi Alleykat through mine and it sounds fantastic.
Features
The effects are excellent. Reverb could be a little better but for the price it has great effects. Perhaps if it were a little simpler to operate some might like it better, especially those not already familiar with Marshall. Personally, it is a great amp at a very good price!
Ease of Use
For my personal use I give it a 9 because I own and use Marshall's and the controls and features are similar to others I use.
Quality
I never had a Marshall I couldn't rate a 10 on quality, even those built outside of the UK.
Value
Compared to other brands (some of which I also own) I give this amp a 9 as to value because of the features, the quality and above all, the sound for the money.
Manufacturer Support
Never used support, not necessary with a Marshall amp.
The Wow Factor
Good looking, especially the full MG stack. Marshall classic looks!

I'm already dissatisfied with this product. I should have forked out more money and got something of quality that would last. Very dissappointed with Marshall.
Sound
sounds pretty good. Very loud and good overdrive
Features
came with a footswitch. I'm sure it won't last long either
Ease of Use
Sounded OK, when there was sound. The effects are nothing special, just convenient
Quality
had it for about 3 months and the sound started cutting out. bad volume pot or connection. Cheaply made! Expected much better quality from Marshall. How hard is it to produce an amp with good connections? I could have built it better myself.
Value
sounds pretty good, but will not last a year.
Manufacturer Support
like pulling teeth to get service. The authorized service company where I live is never open. (I live in Las Vegas, not exactly a small town) They claim to be open 9-5, but you leave work early and get there to find out they are closed.
The Wow Factor

"i would not have bought it if it was not the most for my money"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
over all i am diggin ..if you are in to metal as with any amp i have played including jcm 800..you need added distortion pedal,e.q.,compression..these pedals sound so good together on this amp..it..to early to tell if it will stand the test in time because of the fan...i am sure it will be fine with some parts and elctoronics maintenance know how..i chose this amp in this price range because i can vouch that this marshall will out last any cheap crate or any garbage made by berhinger..sorry i have my reasons!
Sound
it sounds real good..very close to the tube or jcm.you can tell it is a marshall when you hear it.i really like the fdd button on the o.d. channel fot tube sound.on overdrive with no effects reminds me of ac/dc..i played skynard gimme 3 steps jut because of that sound quality..when distortion is added to over drive channel with the highs up and natural reverb it sounds like randy rhodes tribute(extremely close)..also very good for death type metal crunch..i gave it an 8 because it is not a jcm 800 but close..i do not like the o.d tone when master vol. turned past 4, after that you need a p.a..effects are sufficient but i do not like the flange.country leads sound descent..pink floyd with o.d.gain on1-2 volume 10 +reverb(extremely close)..this setting is great for eric johnson licks as well.the clean channell is very crisp...as far as sound..this amp is worth more than what it cost
Features
i wish it had an extra over drive channel with the fdd with an extra controll on the foot switch for each channel ..because i would use one for classic clean over drive tone and the other to be for heavy crunch with layered pedal distortion..then i would'nt mess with the clean channel even though it does sound very good and clean..
Quality
so far i like the apperance.the controll knobs and inputs and hardware seem tough..one problem..the cooling fan buzzez for a few seconds when you first turn it on then it warms up and quits..it sounds if the little plastic fan blades are hitting the edge of the casing of the amp..i think marshall needs to rectify this issues because a lot of users have this problem and it is making marshall look very very bad in the affordable guitar communnity like local players that praise mesa boogie to mention a few..another words it gives the chevy man a chance to put down a ford..lol
Value
i think it is well worth $335.00..in this price range i would take it over berringer they got for 2 and 3 hundred dollars or the crates in this price range...especially for the very very close classic marshall sound it has..i really do not think the fan is no big deal unless it stayed buzzin all the time...it would be on then!!!
Manufacturer Support
i registered the marshall head and contacted suport via e-mail 3 days ago on what i should do to fix the fan and i have not got a response....i will give them a 5 because i have not started bugging the crap out of them yet...
The Wow Factor
looks soooo good..it is a marshall..i gave it a 9 because it does not say jcm 800 on it, and my customer support review is still flowing in my mind!!!

"The newer Marshall valve/state amps are getting closer and closer to that classic Marshall sound. They are slowly chipping away"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I am just starting to play again after a long illness and kidney transplant. I sold my JCM 800 stack to my former lead guitar player. So I in the process of putting another system together. I haven't exhausted the my search for the all tube marshalls yet, so I am not ready to jump into the valve state, but if I come across a deal I can immediately afford, and cannot refuse, I would certainly consider this set up, preferable used, haven't work in a while.
Sound
I have owned and gigged extensively with an 87 JCM800 and the 1960A & 1960B cabs, and for me this is what stokes me more than anything. This set up in the advertisement, I have heard and it is very close. The newer valve/states are really sounding good now.
Features
It has all of, actually more features than I need for myself. I like a simpler set up generally, to preserve that Les Paul through Marshall tube head sound. But there are certainly times and I am sure, I hope, that there will be more times when I can use these features on board.
Quality
Excellent reputation for quality, I have seen countless Marshall Heads and cabinets, even without road cases take the beatings of a daily load in and load out at venues with no dock, only metal ramps, uneven pavement or ashphalt, a local stage hands that are so confident in their strenght, that they move fast a rough with these things. These products were made for this kind of treatment.
Value
Absolutely, as much sound, tone and toughness as is possible for the money. The only set up that comes close, or maybe exceeds the Marshall top, 4x12 cab set up for tone, balls, and toughness is Boogie (esp. Rectifiers). I go back and forth on sound and tone, but Boogie is much more expensive.
Manufacturer Support
Never had to deal with them, except to buy.
The Wow Factor
This would probably be my second choice. I feel more confident with Marshall, that I might get slightly differing tone at times, but it will be powerful. And just as important, I don't have to think about what is happening to it at load in and out. That's my feeling anyway.

"this amp is an over-rated piece of crap"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
overall this is a sad story of how marshall gave into the request for a cheaper amp. the distortion is what it sounds like when im on the toilet. i would absolutly recommend that no one buys this, save yourself 600, and save up for a little longer to a get a good tube distorted amp.
Sound
i suggest not wasting your time trying to make this amp sound better, because that is impossible. the only way to get good distortion is to pay for a metal zone. the clean channel is like farting in a glass jar. For some real cleans a fender twin will make you cry for mercy
Features
too much bad crap on it, who needs all those dfx? if you want to pay 200 more for some effects that are real bad, you need some therapy.
Quality
marshall has officially made their worst amp ever. it is worth 20 bucks.
Value
i wouldnt buy this amp if i had 600, i wouldnt even buy it for 100, marshall solid state is some of the worst
Manufacturer Support
never dealt with those guys.

"marshalls are overrated."

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
if it was a little cheaper, then i think it'd be a good deal. it would probably sound good with an effects processor to give it some variability, but by itself, its just kind of boring. get a vox valvetronix. they have all the sounds of a marshall, and more. more effects, more tonal possibilities, more value overall
Sound
two channels. clean and overdrive. they are both pretty customizable, but it seems really limited. not to many effects either, though the ones it has are good, you'd probably want to buy some effect pedals if you want a real variety
Features
im not sure what accessories there are. i just used the amp
Ease of Use
plug it in, turn it on, adjust some knobs, there you go. fairly simple
Quality
it looks good, and it seems to be made well. it probably wont stop working for a long time
Value
i'd say its worth about half of whatever they're asking

"Not a gig amp"

Overall: 3 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This a great amp for more beginners. The distortion has bad feedback if you turn it past halfway. Even if your maxed out on clean and treble down, you still get feedback. But note this is not a good gig amp. Its more of a practice amp
Features
The fx are kinda cheesy if you ask me. Buy some other pedals, if you want.
Ease of Use
its ok, but to find the right sounds and to mess with everthing takes sometime
Quality
I do have to say its pretty tough though. Some of the head knobs kinda seem like theyd fall off but they havent yet.

the only reason people are putting this product as not so good is because it isnt a tube amp. with less than half the price of a tube amp you can get the sound, not the bill

this is a great amp. you can get tones from slash to allen collins
Features
i feel it could of had some more effects, but oh well good enough for me
Ease of Use
plug your guitar up, set your amp settings, TURN IT UP!
Quality
i have had it for about 3 months, nothing wrong with it
Value
i thing 449 or 500 would have been a better price for this

"amazing amp!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
overall short and sweet:the amp is very very good for its price and is better then most marshall/other amps ive tried and it is very verstatile and it holds up well and sounds great
Sound
i give the sound for this amp a flat out ten and i dont usually give tens in reviews ...the reason is because this amp is so dam good for the price!. i play blues rock/classic rock...and this amp can capture multiple tones good for those types of music and if your feelin angry you can kick it in to od 2 for screamin distortion ....and on the other hand...the EQ is gret good tonal shaping and seperate voicings
Features
the features where very good reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, and usualy EQ controls...it is a solid state amp but has fdd which imitates tubes very well and gives it alot of extra bite...also the crunch chanel is awosme so cruchy i thought the amp was eating chips!....the reason i give features a eight is because you will have to use pedals if you want multiple effects on at once...but its good for me cause i dont use much effects but wah
Ease of Use
the ease of use is wonderful if you know what knobs are what you can dial in a good tone fast and effertlesly and with the contour knob you can go from a classic rock sound to a over drivin blues sound to a thick meaty metal tone fast and easy by the spin of one or two knobs
Quality
another flat out ten for this amp because i tryed this amp right next to a marshall jcm 2000 which costs quit a lot more and this amp actually sounded better ! for blues and rock im starting to think the amp is unbeatable the sound qaulity is very very good and the amp its self is built very well
Value
very very good professional sound for low low price unbelievable
Manufacturer Support
never had to
The Wow Factor
classic...unbeatable look the gold face plated combined with the white marshall logo and black grill cloth makes you wanna rip it up all day

"Budget Stack."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This half-stack is great. If I was richer, I WOULD get the tube-amp Marshall amps, but this is one darn good Solid State Half Stack.
Sound
The sound is amazing. Especially for a solid-state amplifier. I plugged a Gibson Les Paul Studio into the half-stack and boy was it crunchy. The sound is very solid, very warm, and has a big bite and punch to it. It sounds even better when you turn it even louder, especially with the FDD(Frequency Dependent Damping) switch on. It has very smooth sounding clean gains, to hard rock gains. The half stack wasn't clippy at all.
Features
The half-stack has alot of features. It's got two channels, clean and overdrive. The clean channel has a crunch/clean switch, and also a gain control knob. The overdrive channel has a switch that changes between Overdrive 1, and Overdrive 2. Overdrive 1, is the nice and soft, classic Marshall gain. Overdrive 2 is the more crunchy, raw, face licking gain. It also has a seperate section with all the fun effects. It has one knob selector for Chorus/Delay, Delay, Chorus, and Flanger, and a seperate knob to control the volume of the selected delay. It also has a seperate control knob for the Digital Reverb. The overdrive channel comes with many knobs to help find the true tone, treble, bass, middle, contour, and volume. There is also a master volume, so you can control the amp volume. As with all Marshall MG solid-state amps, they come with the FDD switch. It seems to put more of a warm smooth tone into the amp when you push it in, so it's good. Although the digital reverb is good, the cool effects aren't that great, they're just there for experimenting, and messing around.
Ease of Use
This half-stack was amazingly easy to use, all I had to do was plug the guitar in, turn the amp on, turn up the master and drive volume, adjust the drive stuff, and you can start rocking. The amp is very playable.
Quality
The amp seems like a pretty darn good half-stack. Especially for a solid-state, it actually did sound like a tube amp. Jamming right beside a Marshall JCM2000 half-stack, it is competable to the JCM2000. There wasn't really any blemishes on the half-stack that was noticable.
Value
For the value, it's one of the best sounding solid-state half-stacks out there. You can almost achieve the beautiful rich tube-amp tone with this baby, and its a grand less!
Manufacturer Support
I heard that Marshall goes over the line to back up their customers, so I guess I'll give them a 9.
The Wow Factor
The half-stack is VERY attractive, even the price tag is attractive. The classic white Marshall logo, just the half-stack itself makes you look great.

Marshall MG Half Stack Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

still in great condidtion.
Sound
well, the sound is very smooth and is very versatile. I use every tone on the amp, and i can make up any sound i like. It's simply an amp with great tone.
Features
the onboard effects come in handy. the reverb is very smooth too. The fact that its a solid state, it'll last longer than a tube amp.
Ease of Use
its not as heavy has other amps are, so it's easier to lug around, and i find it simple to hook up and everything, just plug in and play
Quality
great long lasting quality. once you look at it, you know its a marshall. I bought it 2 years ago, and its still in immaculate condition.
Value
a good price. tube amps are very pricey. this is an amp with great tone, features, and versatility. a good deal.

"This is not a Marshall!"

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is not a Marshall. This is a piece of crap with a Marshall sticker stuck on it.
Sound
The clean channel is mediocre at best. It has a few built in effects but none of which sound as good as a standard pedal. The distorted channel is also mediocre at best. It has a "buzzy" sound, i guess thats the best way to describe it. It has great middle but the sound is not fat enough and does not have enough bass. The distortion would actually be a little better for metal than for a standard crunchy sound, but once again it just lacks bass and an overall Marshall tone, and I used a 2005 Gibson Les Paul Standard.
Features
It comes with a few effects, and the fact that it is cheap it pretty good.
Ease of Use
It was easy to wire the cab and head together but is very difficult to figure out how to work the channels together, especially with the pedal. The effects are also hard to comprehend.
Quality
It hasn't broken down or anything, but honestly I was not satisfied at all. If you want a great sound buy a Line6 Spider III HD150 head with either a Line6 cab, a Peavy, or even a Behringer, which is what I use.
Value
It's ok if you're just a kid who has a spare $600 and a good electric guitar who plays in a basement, but it is not suitable for anything larger than a small-time gig or by intermediate use.
Manufacturer Support
I gave it a 10 only because I have heard it has good support, but I have never needed it.
The Wow Factor
Not so great. I like the colors but otherwise its not so impressive.

i expect this amp will last me a good long time. quality built.
Sound
this amp has a really good clean channel. my favorite sound is that great crunch sound it has. Hooking up a wah to the effects loop and putting it on the crunch setting will give you some 70's -late 60's jimmy page sound. great amp. it also has that fdd button that makes the headroom on the clean channel simply amazing. not to mention it has a good metal sound in the second overdrive stting. turn up the contour and you have a good metal lead cound. this amp is super versatile for a really low price.
Features
the built in effects arnt bad. i expected crap from them but to my favor they are suprisingly easy to use and sound great at that.

"Pretty awesome."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is the nicest amp I have ever owned.. I think it's a perfect unit for those of us who are beyond bedroom playing but not quite ready for the dual rectifier with 8 cabs. Great amp for band practice and gigging.
Sound
This half stack sounds really good, especially for solid state. I tried it out in a store before ordering, and compared it to cheaper half stacks, but I just fell in love with this one. Clean channel is very warm, and if the digital effects are used in a subtle fashion you can get some very pretty sounds going. The distortion channels are okay- I play really detuned metal riffs, and I've never come across an amp with the right kind of distortion, but this one comes kind of close. I still definitely use my Boss MT-2 on the clean channel though. The amp distortion is better for soloing. Again, the digital effects aren't "useless," as others have claimed- they just take a little tweaking.
Features
It would be nice if plugging headphones in muted the amp, or if that were an option (for tuning between songs, etc.) The CD input is great for practicing. It would be nice if you had more control over the effects with the footswitch, instead of just on/off. Also there are 2 distortion options, but the footswitch doesn't let you select between them. That would be nice too.
Quality
It is a Marshall. However, I have also had the problem with the noisy fan when the amp is turned on initially. It's not really a problem- it just sounds like it's going to break or something.
Value
I think all amps, ESPECIALLY Marshalls, are overpriced. It can't possibly cost that much to make the things! But this is a pretty good deal- great Marshall sound and power for a halfway decent price.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with Marshall yet.
The Wow Factor
I would rate it a 10 if the knobs and controls were on the bottom of the head. It looks a little odd the way it is.

Sound
it does it all, hands down marshall tone in a slightly more compact, solid state package. The cleans are warm and rich, the distortions are good, not great for newer rock. I have a digitech gnx3 that covers everything else.
Features
on board effects are great. the reverb unit is vastly improved over my last mg80rcd. celestions in a cabinet at this price sound great. I bought both cabs.
Quality
