"Great value for the price"

I have never owned a marshall, but...have had several so called "boutique" amps. This amp blows them all out of the water. Not being a big fan of solid state amps I was taken aback at the warm tube like distortion that can be tweaked out of this amp. The only draw back I have found is it is noisey at "any" volume

"CHECK THIS AMP OUT! IT ROCKS!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I had a fender champ30 and it just wasn't loud or clear enough to hear over a drummer and other sounds, so i looked and looked a found this marshall to be my best bet. i don't need a huge stack right now... although i would prefer a mode 4... but the marshall is great and loud and it rocks!
Sound
Powerful and crisp clean & classic marshall crunch! This amp is loud and clear! I love the clean channel and how it responds to every note. I play a standard strat and it doesn't have that bright, fake, solid-state sound that hurts your ears, but is smooth and regulated. The tube in the pre-amp makes so much difference between the other MG (marshall) series. the tube adds so much more dimension to the clean and gain channels. the bass is terrific and since it has a closed back design you get deeper tones. when you turn this up you can really hear the vibrations in your bones! I have a boss ds-1 pedal, but I DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE! for the money, although not inexpensive, i can't complain. i give it a 10.
Features
It comes with a standard footswitch 2 eq's for the clean, and 3 eq's for the gain. it would have been cool for the clean channel to have a separate reverb and other cool effects like its bigger brother: the avt150, but i don't reaaly need all that. i just want to play straight rock and roll! it's a matter of choice really, but it is more important for the amp to sound good than have a bunch of digital effects. one thing i have to complain about is when you switch over from distortion to clean while still sustaining a note a loud "popping" sound will occur for a second. it kind of annoying, but it can be easily avoided. The construction is great (solid as a rock) and you can barely hear the circulation fan that cools the amp.
Quality
you get a 5 year warranty, so i'm not that worried. and everything seems to work fine.
Value
i'd say its a little expensive, but you get for what you paid for!
Manufacturer Support
can't say that i have dealt with marshall.
The Wow Factor
I just love the way it sounds and feels. i think it will help me progress as a better musician and explore deeper tones in different amps and instruments. it was a great investment.

"This things a monster. Not a practice Amp."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars

If you buy this to practice in your garage or room you won't be able to crank the volume past 2 on gain. To get that natural distortion you need to crank it and you just can't with this beast. You need to keep it at 2 or below unless you're gigging or you play in a warehouse. I'd reccommend a smaller amp to practice on and this for larger venues of 100 people. So on 1 or 2 this amp sounds a bit synthetic. Good clean; bell-like. Awesome on high gain for metal, crunchy sounds. Ok verb and effects. Not it's strong point. Though it is Great looking, or impressive rather, amp and a good value.

"Great amp for garage ans miked for small venues"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Sound
My MG250 has a good sound. Still Can't get the tube sound ,but for the most part the amp rocks. only problem is an 100 watt analog is only equal to a 50 watt tube.. all the studies i've can't explain it.
Features
I'm not sold on the FX with the amp except the reverb. I don't like the fact the foot switch does not work with the reverb
Quality
IT's a Marshall..enough said
Value
great..sure beats other amps I have played in the same price group..Kustom being the crappiest.

Ever since I got this I stopped trying out new amps.

Ease of Use
Found fantastic sounds as soon as I plugged it in
Quality
Built like a brickhouse
Value

"An Accurate review of the Marshall AVT 50. (My own experience)"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Overall I am very happy with this amp. The intermittent problem on the clean channel is my only complaint. Other than that I would keep this amp forever,
Sound
This is a good sounding amp. Nice distortion channel, very good clean channel especially with a Strat. Blues licks are great with the gain turned up, but also sound sweet with lower gain.
Features
Comes with a good heavy duty foot switch. Has 2 channels, reverb, CD and headphone jacks.
Quality
I rated quality a 7 because mine is 8 months old and I have an intermittent problem on the clean channel where the light flickers and the sound level goes up and down and becomes scratchy. I cant get it to happen often enough though to show a technician the problem.
Value
This amp has the great Marshall tone, but does not have alot of bells and whistles. For 500.00 bucks I didnt expect alot of bells and whistles on a Marshall amp. I did expect great Marshall sound and this amp delivers it. I do wish the clean channel was louder without turning the gain up. The distortion channel is more than loud enough.
Manufacturer Support
Any Marshall dealer can get repairs handled for you, but dont go to the Marshall website looking for any kind of technical support because it is not there.

"Surprisingly good!"

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
easily a 10, great amp, very impressed
Sound
When i first started playing this amp i was really amazed at how nice it sounds, the dirty channel is really very smooth and clean, when your playing everything comes through clear and you can realy here what your pick is doing, which is great if you play lead and perfect if you can shred. the clean channel was also very pleasent it sounds very warm and agin very clear, the clean gain setting is very good on this amp, for a rock n' roll bluesy sound its just perfect i was very happy with the sound, if your a beginner and you like to play heavy get this amp i noticed that the low end distortion on this amp can produce a sound that is even heavier than some of the more powerful AVT models
Features
the features are simple but what do you expect for an amp at this price, for a begginer amp you have everything you could want.
Quality
the qaulity of this amp is nothing less than superb, my friend had one and he told me that he was driving down the motorway at 60mph on his way to do a gig and the doors on his van open and it fell out and bounced down the road, and after he went back for it, got to where he was going, and plugged it in he said it still worked, lol so i dont think you need to worry about the quality.
Value
i think the price is really quite reasonable for an amp of this qaulity and sound
Manufacturer Support
no idea, never needed it
The Wow Factor
i only wish that i bought this amp when i began playing, but i've been playing for 4years now, alot, and now i'm looking to buy my first tube amp possibly marshall tsl 122combo but if your a new player get it, it's perfect

"For old guitar players who want to feel young again. This Marshall AVT50 will do it!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This amp meets performs the way I expected it to and hasn't let me down in expectations.
Sound
The Marshall Avt 50 is Sweet and clean. I'm not in a band but if I were this amp could easy stand its own to kick some ass. It is a great amp for both my acoustic Takemine and rocks with my Strat and it hasn't left my bedroom yet. Not to big to sit in the corner of my bedroom out of the way. So if your a part time player in between raising a family on a budget and always wanted a Marshall Amp that won't hurt your pocket I highly recommmend this amp. You'll Love its sound and workmenship. It's a Marshall.
Features
Simple feature for what the amp offers. Nice that the pedal is included.
Quality
It has the Marshall look and sounds great from it's 12" speaker .
Value
In a class of it's own yet compatible with other amps in this price range. Maybe a few dollars high the other, but it's a Marshall. "You get what you pay for." as the saying goes.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had anything go wrong yet to need support and have had it for over 18 months already with steady use.
The Wow Factor
Sometimes I wish I had gotten the Avt 150, because it's really a super amp and if I had the money you can be sure that I would buy the big brother next.

Marshall AVT50 Guitar Amp Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I was thinking about a MG DFX series but I have a few pedals, and this has a 12AX7 in the pre-amp, so, I'm good with it.
Sound
Poor man's all valve Marshall. A "10" would be the real deal. I've had one for about 6 years, and I love it.
Features
Came with a footswitch. It's cut in and out a couple times, but not a big deal. Most useful feature; pretty good Marshall tone for under $375 when I bought it new at a place going out of business. Least useful feature; reverb, and clean channel volume breaks up a little sooner than would like. I use a Fender Strat.
Ease of Use
Straightforward, 2 channel deal.
Quality
No problem with amp, but the footswitch has acted up a couple times.
Value
Great value for the price.
Manufacturer Support
Not used

"I recommend you look somewhere else."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
sounds crappy at low volumes. to be honest, i feel that if you need an amp to practice in your bedroom, that you should get a small tube amp. but to be fair, if you turn it loud enough you'll get a good sound. the tone is flat and cheap a low-medium volume.
Features
you'll quickly become bored with the amp unless you get some extra effects. crappy reverb
Quality
a few technical problems along the way. very robust however.
Value
for the volume and quality i think the price is right.

Marshall AVT50 Guitar Amp Customer Review

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Quality
distortion volume knob comes out of assembly and there is a loud screeching sound whenever the distortion channel is applied. There is no point of using the distortion now because it doesn't sound right. i run a pedal through the clean and use it to power a 4 x 12. in addition, the fan makes a violent humming noise when turned on. i was totally stoked about this amp at first and gave it high reviews, but i would caution buyers to reconsider their purchase.
