I tried a set of these instead of my usually Martin phosphor bronze medium lights. I like a bright bell like tone, which the phosphor bronze delivers. But I also like a bit of warmth. I'm exclusively a non pick user although my style isn't always what you'd call finger style. Sometimes I use the back of my finger or my thumb nail for different attacks and effect. I instantly liked the monel strings and they do just what Martin says they do. Bright enough, but also warmer and less "blingy" than bronze strings. They also seem to retain their initial tone a lot longer than bronze strings. So they're a good string for my use. I've got them on both my 000-18RetroE and Taylor 514CE. I play in blues/folk/jazz bands and at church
