I only wish it had a pickup. I'm thinking about having one installed.
Sound
Sounds very good for the money. Dont let the HPL fool you.
Features
Comes with strings....what more do you want?
Quality
Flawless.....not the prettyest guitar made, but made well.
Value
This is the best you can get for the money. I've gone to the store 3 times with $1700 in pocket and I can't replace it for that. By the time I find a guitar I like more I'm in the $2200 range.
Manufacturer Support
Dont really know, haven't needed it. Good website though.
The Wow Factor
Like I said it's not a pretty guitar, but I makes a beautiful sound.

Stop being a snob, just because it's $500, does not mean anything. I have this and a Hummingbird. The Gibson is better but I will never part with this guitar, it is better than good.

"DMX is great entry-level Martin"

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I bought a used DMX from FB. Anyway it was only $300 and it was great step up from the $100 Jasmine I started with. It has big Martin sound. So bright and unique Martin quality. Its was a cheap way to own a Martin. Yes its made with laminate which is not best material. I am not a pro. Negatives, it does have a more high action feel. For the money, it was great value and it indeed has made me play more and get better. A few years later, I sold it to get a Road Series version which are double the price. I would say the main upgrade is the lower strings sound a little more brighter. However, there is little difference.

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I really like this guitar since its such a good deal for the price. If I like a guitar, I'll have it for a long time. I bought this one over Tacoma, Takamine, and Alvarez because it sounds better than the Tacoma and Alvarez and plays better than the Takamine. All were more expensive than the Martin.
Sound
Great bass and highs but a little flat in the mids. Overall tone is well above average
Features
I bought mine new but damaged so I didn't even get a case with it.
Quality
Even though its primarily made of laminates, they are quality high-pressure laminates that look great and sound wonderful. The only drawback to the looks is the back of the neck. Maybe some dark stain?
Value
At the going rate of $449, it would be hard to find a better deal on a new guitar.
Manufacturer Support
Have never dealt with Martin but one of our band members has a 70's D35 which he had the action reset on. Martin did a great job quickly and at a reasonable price.
The Wow Factor
This is a pretty standard looking axe i.e. its not sexy like my Taylor 714CE but, hey, the Taylor sells for 5 times the price!

Musical Background:

Active musician

Musical Style:

Old country, rock & roll, and bluegrass with the band. Fingerstyle on my own.

"Martin for a reason."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
When this one finally bites the dust, I'll buy another one.
Sound
This has a full bodied sound with well constructed nature (now extraneous noises right off the showroom floor). For power strumming or finger picking, an open mic loves this guitar.
Features
Best feature - the price. Best sub-1000 guitar I've played.
Quality
A Martin. I punched two accidental holes in the body during travel and it held up well - still sounded good, too.
Value
If you want your first "decent" acoustic to sound great day in and day out, this is the one to buy. Holds tuning forever and makes you sound subtle every time you play it.

Musical Background:

Musician, engineer

Musical Style:

Rock, alternative.

"Waaay Worth the $$$."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
It sounds better than any other guitar in it's price range. You'd have to spend atleast 600-700 to get anything close to the sound you get with this guitar with any other brand. I've had it for 3 years and it still sounds great.
Features
it's fine.
Quality
3 years and still in great shape adn I play hard.
Manufacturer Support
I hear good things.. i've never needed support.
