Well I finally took the plunge and bought a Martin, I'm glad I did! I intially wanted a d15m in burst finish, but ended up choosing this guitar instead because of the shaded spruce top. Let me just say that the top on these are gorgeous and probably the highest glossed top I've ever seen. The sides on mine were highly figured mahogany and look almost 3D in the right light. My back however is basic looking hog. This guitar is very close sounding in certain regards to a D18. I think the D18 wins in the high spectrum, but this 17m has some serious growl on the bottom end and still remains balanced.Finish was almost perfect in every way, frets were dressed well, and the action is the best I've ever seen from a factory Martin guitar. On par with any taylor I've played or owned. The neck profile is fantastic just like the D15m's, I chose this guitar over the D18 mainly because of the modified low oval neck versus the new PA taper on the 18. Feels better to me. I also feel that the 17 is a more responsive guitar than most realize. It's really a sleeper in the Martin line, and in my honest opinion one of the best bang for your bucks out their for what you get! Try this overlooked Dred and you'll be hooked!

Was shopping around for an upgrade on my current guitar and set my sights on the D17 after reviewing the product on YouTube and seeing several of their reviews. I'm almost 60 years old and having been playing guitar for 40 years, but never owned a Martin although I've played several over the years and have always been impressed with the quality and sound. zZounds offered a payment plan which I thought was too good to be true and after placing my order I was amazed and delighted to find the guitar waiting for me the next day when I returned home from work. The set up was flawless in every way and I'm now kicking myself for not by a Martin sooner and thank the good folks at zZounds for there service and expert handling of my order. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to purchase any music related items, definitely! Thank you again zZounds.

After the initial brightness of the new strings wore off I quickly fell in love with this guitars tone. Extremely versatile. Strong bass, clear and present midrange, strong but not overpowering trebles. Zzounds customer service was excellent.
