"Best affordable monitors"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I also like these since they are very slender and don't take up space at all. Remember thay are only like 5 watts per channel so they can't go really loud like bigger speakers can but if you have them at normal volume they sound great but if you turn them too loud they will start to distort. But you don't have to worry about blowing them since they have the protection called output current limiting.
Sound
I really like how these sound for the price I mean they do make clear low punchy bass and clear highs. The mids are good too. They really sound like a miniture studio monitor.
Features
They have some good features like the protection called output current limiting that protects the drivers from blowing them out when you turn them up loud. So I don't ever have to worry about damaging these monitors. But all other M-Audio monitors have this feature. Plus it has a voltage selector so you can use these monitors in a different country and also that have a fuse inside the monitors but you will have to remove the cover to see that fuse and to replace it. The other cool feature it has is that the tweeters point towards you when you have them on your desk so you don't have to level them to your ears like normal monitors.
Ease of Use
It's very simple to use you just turn the volume control clockwise and the power goes on and just keep turning them until they are loud enough for you. It's very simple to connect the monitors to your computer or MP3 player etc. They come with a RCA cord that converts to normal male type headphone jack.
Quality
These are build very well and durable they are pretty heavy for there size but all that means is the parts inside are good. They use MDF type enclosure like other M-Audio monitors and use the same high tech stuff that other M-Audio monitors use.
Value
They are worth every penny since they are built well and durable and use good parts inside.
Manufacturer Support
The tech support is very helpful that know alot about there products and can guide you to help fix any issues you have with M-Audio products. Only thing I don't like is the wait time is very long and could take acutaly upto 40 min depending how busy they are to talk to them.
The Wow Factor
They look really attractive and nice since they have that angle shape so the tweeters point towards your ears when you place them on your desktop.

"BUY THESE NOW! - great for the price!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll keep these for a good while until i do a complete upgrade in a couple years. the only reason i would do this is because i would be moving to a more permanent setting instead of always moving these around which is part of the key feautures on these, overall 10 for me completely happy with them once you train your ear to hear these properly!
Sound
for the size of these things they're loud.. I do every mix on these and i can hear every instrument clearly, they're great for the price and kill the competing behringers. If you want great monitors at a small cost buy these, people may think the don't sound good but monitors are for honesty and the honestly give you what you want to hear.
Features
Some of the features of these monitors are that they are able to point upwards so you can lay them on the desk in front of you, that's why they're not shaped completely square like a normal monitor. The Size is amazing they're called portable for a reason they're shorter but a bit wider than my computer speakers but at 10 watts a side i was surprised with the power these things pack. I am able to play them from the room next to me and able to hear a metronome clearly with my electronic drumkit in the other room.
Ease of Use
Just plug in a rca cable into the back and connect and included stereo wire from one monitor to the other. included also is a 1/8"- to rca jack for use with computer. JUst turn them on and you're golden.
Quality
love the quality, i can pick out every instrument so so clearly and when i get them to sound good on these they'll sound good on everything!
Value
100 bucks? I mean common, how many professional sounding speakers have you heard of for 100 dollars?
The Wow Factor
I wanted these so badly, the only thing i thought was weird was how they're curved and not flat like most studio monitors, however when i received these i thought these look unbelieveable it's almost like a bad picture and a bit of a turn off to see a big curve. The reason however for the curve is so you don't need to purchase stands making them even more portable, they lay on the desk in front of you and they are tilted up so you can get the same sound quality as if they were on stands. Also the grill on the woofer is removable however i keep it on because i do move these around quite a bit.

"Steer clear from these..."

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Stay far away from these folks. These speakers have distortion coming from the tweeters during LOW and MID volume levels. I took them back and got a second pair and still had the same problem. Tried a variety of sound sources to no avail. Definitely a design flaw!
Features
Features are useless if the sound is awful.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use, to bad they don't sound good.
Quality
Sound is terrible when played below 50% volume. Distortion coming from the tweeters when playing anything around 400HZ. They sound like $20 dollar speakers. Very cheap.
