I am transitioning from electronic to acoustic drums. This is my first real snare. It is LOUD. But the tone is fantastic. The tuning range, construction, appearance, and hardware are all top notch. For those of you worried about the P85/P85AC throw-offs, it looks more like a P88 upon inspection. The throw-off is smooth, doesn't loosen up, has detents on the adjustment knob, and looks appropriate for the drum.

"LB417 Supraphonic Snare Drum"

A must have for those of us who play rock, metal, punk rock etc. This is the absolutely best snare drum I've ever used. Killer crack sound that cuts through any Marshall stack! Also great for studio recording. All I need to say to drummers is : You get what you pay for! Sure this snare is a bit expensive, however if your serious about the most important piece on your kit, then you need an LB417 believe me when I say " you will not be dissapointed", and this is the only snare you will ever need! When it comes to sound this snare drum is priceless.

I own 2 Black Beauty snare drums a 14x6.5 Hammered, and a 13x3 hammered snare. Both are amazing and have been my go to snare drums for over a decade. Every drummer should own one, if not you are just denying yourself access to the best snare drum money can buy.
