I don't typically write these reviews unless there is something unique or I feel there is something I can offer to someone considering this purchase. There are few reviews of the Laney IRT 60 combo ( I learned when I was considering this amp) so hopefully this info helps.
Sound
The sound is great BUT it's unique and may not be for everyone. To start I will say the combo speakers were disappointing. I upgraded to a Marshall type and a Celstion speaker and was still not completely satisfied. I now run it to a 4x12 with celstions and I'm thrilled. Not sure if its the 2x12 cab but the shaping of this amp leans towards mid to high frequencies which I suppose isn't the best match for smaller cabs like a 2x12. I would likely recommend the 60 head over the 2x12 to others. You really need high bass settings ( and I use an EQ pedal) to get this amp to push some air. For metal it's extremely tight. There is no looseness to this amplifier at all. I use this amp in combination with another amp that has a bit more bass. I don't play detuned metal (more classic metal to rock) and it does the mid range - high gain stuff very well. ( think Tool, APC tone) It also reminds me of a classic 80's overdriven Marshall sound. ( think Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance). I will keep this amp forever but I don't expect I would use it as the sole amp in a show. For me it fits well with other amps. Those of you that tune to low alternate tuning should give this amp a try.
Features
The eq options are huge. Very versatile amplifier with the exception of having much bass punch. The wattage drop was a selling point for me BUT - in my opinion this amp sounds better with the wattage dialed up, even at lower volume levels - go figure. It's much lighter than my old 5150 combo but still a bit of a workout.
Ease of Use
It takes time to dial this amp in. I also found, more than any other amp I have owned from solid state to tube, different guitars sound totally different. There is no memory save so different guitars will require either a great mental memory, or some documented settings when switching between guitars.
Quality
Seems to be built solid. No issues yet other than a push - pull knob that pulled off.
Value
I found its a great value. Tones of tone shaping and tonal features.
Manufacturer Support
No need to contact Laney yet
