I plan to keep this Uke for a long time. Should I become more proficient in playing it I may someday buy a solid Koa Ukulele and keep this one for a back-up.
Sound
I received my Uke today. It sounds very good to my untrained ear. I have just begun learning to play a Ukulele. It sounds better that my Fluke does.
Quality
This Uke seems very well made and solid. I will take it with me, in a case, wherever I go. It is a beautiful thing and I am very proud of it.
Value
It is well worth the price to me.
Manufacturer Support
Since it was made in China I have had no opportunity to deal with the company that made it. I am sure that I would be able to deal with zzounds, should the occasion arise.
The Wow Factor
When I saw the ad and picture I was obsessed with owning this Uke.

Musical Background:

I am now learning to play.

Musical Style:

Old time songs and some Hawaiian.

"Good sound, bad quality control"

Overall, not terrible. But there are better made ukes for the money.
Sound
The sound is pretty good. Not too bright, not mellow. There isnt much sustain(and I know, its a ukulele, but still)
Quality
I think Lanikai could use a little work in the QC department, or else someone was half asleep or drunk when they made mine. I got my uke with the binding separating from the top, about and inch long on the lower bout. Right around the same place was a warp in the top. All over this particular ukulele there are places where the binding and top arent quite flush, and there is excess glue where the fretboard meets the neck. This may just be the odd bad piece that made it past QC, because most of the reviews I read were good. But I was expecting a better made, better quality instrument for the money I paid.
Value
For $250, I expected more. There are better made, more nicely appointed ukuleles for the same price.
Manufacturer Support
I didnt have to deal with Lanikai. ZZounds is currently handling my return and refund.
The Wow Factor
Not much "wow", to be honest. Not a terrible instrument, but nothing to write home about either.

Musical Background:

12 years playing. Guitar, bass, slide dobro, and more recently, ukulele

Musical Style:

Punk, ska(or any blend of the two, reggae, blues, bluegrass, slack key
