I bought this thing primarily for the bass sounds and i like them. The thing feels a bit light, like there's just one board inside or something :)) ( i haven't use the support, but the review thing requires to rate it ... so i gave 1/2)

Good Synth especially for techno but it has no sustain pedal inputs. The enclosure is too cheap and its supposed to be XL, a step up from the microkorg? The keys are improved but for a little but more cash you can by an UltraNova. The orginal Microkorg was more fun but had bad keys and this what they came up with next. A huge dissapointment! I thought the Vocoder was weak as well. Aside from that the sounds are ok, good but not amazing! Definately not worth the money. My goal was to buy multiple compact synths and use them together but this just narrowed it down to a few, maybe just one or two. UltraNova and Gaia are next to be reviewed.

"Great Synth!"

Sound
I'm surprised on seeing so many people saying this is the same as Microkorg...No way, this one sounds different, more like Radias, much better vocoder/mic and completely dintinct interface (more friendly)...so, maybe it should cost even more than it costs, comparing with Microkorg. Regarding plastics/enclosure, yes, it SHOULD be better.

microKorg XL Synthesizer Customer Review

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
The sounds are ok. Same as the original.
Features
Please take the genres off for selecting sounds knob!! Was this a marketing decision? I am blown away..
Ease of Use
fine, easy to use.
Quality
Crap plastic. Cheesy pots.. Oh, and put some more presets on there! I know we all like to program our synths.. but for stuff to on the fly or scratch pad stuff.. Korg fails!
Value
NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

not worth the money.... sorry korg!
Sound
should of never even made this synth!! the original microkorg blows this one out of the water! sounds the exact same but just $100 more for what- a vintage look? thats just dumb if u ask me!
Features
has less features that the microkorg!! didnt like the pattern edit style or the screen at that!!
Ease of Use
i will give it this, it was easy to use but not easy to edit personal sound with i think thats what a synth should shine on!!! i hate preset sounds & really just gave up on it after a while.
Quality
the quality of the keys are better but not the over all quality
Value
not worth the $500 at all!! just cause it looks vintage doesnt mean u bump the price up!
Manufacturer Support
korg is awsome so il give them a ten! i own alot of korg products & never really had a problem so far!! knock on wood!!!
The Wow Factor
the over all look is great, but its not about what it looks like- its about what it sounds like!!
