I play keys in a reggae band and needed a quality keyboard. I've only been playing keys for a few years and really needed to upgrade from my cheap radio shack board that was given to me. My main concern was a good piano sound since I already have another board that has decent organ for "bubbling". I also wanted to be able to create my own tracks at home without spending a grand. The Kross seemed like the way to go. It's very user friendly and since I haven't been playing piano all my life I didn't need an 88 key or weighted keys. It has amazing piano, organ, and bass sounds. Piano sounds I normally use are 'Dark Piano', 'Upright' and sometimes 'M1'. Yes it has that classic M1 sound programmed in there. I wasn't too impressed with the horn section, sounds a little too cheesy. Sequencer is fun to mess with and create tracks, all the instructions can be found on youtube in a 5 part video specifically for the Kross. The board looks beautiful but the construction feels cheap. I guess these newer boards are going into a more portable light weight direction therefore the plastic construction. Overall I'm very satisfied and I think I've made a great choice for my first quality board. Sounds great at gigs and brings out hours of creativity at home or in the studio. By the way I ordered this on Thursday and it arrived Saturday, zzounds shipping is awesome.

First off, I thought that my power switch was faulty because it doesn't engage, it powers on and off with a long press. And before I stuck it back in the box and gave it all 1 star ratings, I READ THE MANUAL! I am a 20 year veteran on guitar, and anything I ever bought for guitar that was made by korg...well it was always my go to equipment. Always reliable, always making good sounds. I'm new to piano and synths, but I know good sound when I hear it. Even though the keybed isn't weighted, no 61-key is, I found it had the best feel between the other 61's. There's a slightly heavier resistance in them, combined with the acoustic piano preset, I don't feel blasphemous playing the blues or boogie woogie. Awesome product, super portable, would be acceptable if it were a pound or two heavier and have either an aluminum or thicker plastic casing, as it is light as a feather but still seems very sturdy. This will be the road keyboard for a while to come. And after she's paid off, from the awesome company zzounds here, a kronos 88 will be in my future. Thanks korg, I love it. Thanks zzounds, or I either couldn't have afforded it, or had to wait 4 months and save my bread. Buy one!

"One of the best boards I every owned!!"

I have to say I really love this keyboard. The sound patches are amazing, especially the synths which sound just as good on a board you would normally pay big money for. The step sequencer to me is what makes this keyboard fun & unique. For the price, you are getting so much for buck, from the 16 channel sequencer to the amazing sound patches this keyboard contains. This keyboard is one of the best I ever owned and I owned a lot of keyboards. The Korg Kros is just awesome, and I'm a proud owner of this product.

"Read the manual!!!"

So to the guy who gave this keyboard all 1 star reviews because of the power button. read your manual before dogging an awesome product. The power button doesn't "engage" you hold it down for a few seconds to turn it on, and vice versa to turn off. This thing is built solid and sounds professional. Easy to use, well written manual, awesome customer support, what else can I say? I'm totally happy with my purchase and will be buying more goodies from zzounds, my new favorite music store. Thanks zzounds and korg, you made this old man very happy.

"On-Off Switch Broken"

Overall: 1 out of 5 stars

So, I ordered the Kross 61. Opened the box....the on/off switch is broken. Won't power on, Tried six different outlets, USB connection and batteries. The switch does not engage to a locked on position. Sending it back. Do not want a replacement. As a working musician, I do not need equipment that arrives broken. This does not provide me with the confidence that this will endure 3-4 jobs each week. That's why I don't use a Casio. Although I do like the carrying handle installed on the back of the Kross 61.
