"JBL EON's Rock"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great set of speakers for and average musician, DJ or small to medium house sound system.
Sound
I have had my JBL Eons for many years and they just keep on pumping out great sound. I have used them as PA speakers, monitors, etc and they are the best sounding speakers PA speakers I have ever owned. I traded in a nice pair of Bose 802II's for them and have never looked back. With the Bose speakers you had to carry a processor and an amp, run cables to the processor, then cables from the processor to the amp, then cables from the amp to the speakers. With these, it's mixer to speakers baby. Yeah!! I did sound for a large convention in Nashville recently. When I talked to the lady who was running the convention she told me there would be about 300 people. When I arrived to set up, the room was HUGE and I wasn't sure my single pair of JBL Eon's would be up to the task. Fortunately it was a seminar, they wouldn't have held up with a rock band in that size room. But it sounded excellent and the last day they had a bluegrass band come and perform and the jbl's worked great. The seminar lady was so impressed that she aske me to go with her to California to do her next seminar. The Bose 802's would never have handled that situation.
Features
Plug 'em in and go. I noticed that several reviews said they don't have a "crossover". They DO have an active crossover and are bi-amped. The input can be set to mic or line level. Just one speaker and a mic makes a darn fine outdoor PA for things like company picnics or protest rallies.
Ease of Use
Plug and GO.
Quality
The do tend to get scuffed up when you haul them in and out lots of times, however, that's just normal wear and tear. These things are built like Sherman Tanks.
Value
You get a whole lot of bang for the buck with these speakers. They are impressivly loud for the power rating and just have a great sound. The active nature of these speakers makes them sound better than any passive speaker.
Manufacturer Support
I have used JBL support in the far distant past and they came through like champs. I have never had so much as a hicup from my EON's and have never needed support.
The Wow Factor
I'm sure there are better speakers out there, but not for the money. The JBL's are half price of the Mackies, EV's, etc. I compared side by side with the active Peavey 15's and the JBL's were much clearer and had more thump.

"Served me well"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Fairly portable, lots of sound. Rugged enough to haul around. A local club uses these for PA and they seem to have held up even with that heavy use.
Sound
Great sound, plenty loud
Features
I would have liked to see 1/4 inch inputs, but all you need is an XLR adapter.
Ease of Use
Turn it on and adjust the volume
Quality
I bought these 4 years ago and they have been hauled all over in the trunk of my car. I lend them to friends for weddings & parties. All that's happened is that the grill on one is a bit rusty where it was wet for a while. I noticed a volume knob being a little flaky at one point, but it just needed some vigorous turning to fix.
Value
I bought two of them from ZZounds four years ago, and the price has gone up, not down. I've definitely got my money's worth though, and would probably re-buy even at the higher price.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed any.

"Very loud powerful speakers with a good range"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
These PA's will be great for portable gigs for a long time
Sound
I bought these(2) to be live Keyboard powered amps. For individual sounds the speakers are great. For orchestral mixes, the bass is a little muddy and the mids are flat. The highs are ok but the 16khz top end really cuts a lot of the dynamic content of orchestral mixes
Features
1 XLR input only - no 1/4 balanced phone jacks. There is no mixer or cross-over knobs - so unless you have a powered mixer with good EQ, the sound can be a little flat
Quality
very solid equipment - no distortion...this speaker is Painfully **loud**. I have read reviews stating these are adequate for small venues...I think these would be adequate for large venues and outstanding for small venues.
Value
Given that the going price for these are $400 - the value is wonderful - no EQ or mixer or multiple channels...but loud powerful sound for the money
Manufacturer Support
Have not needed support

Sound
The best full deep rich sound of the Eon's can't be beat! I've used mine for 3 years now and wouldn't trade them for anything... well I guess if I could have 4 instead of 2 id take the trade in a heart beat! DJ Spurs Las Vegas Nv.

"Extremely versatile Very good for small combo use mains or monitors."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I have no plans to replace these speakers. I'm in a small jazz combo and they are the perfect monitor. I find them very good as mains where I don't need the monitors.
Sound
This speaker has a good clean sound once it is equalized through my mixer. I do wish it had a crossover. However I normally don't use it as a stand alone speaker.
Features
The speaker has a volume control and can be daisy chained together which is very useful
Ease of Use
This speaker must be used with an external EQ. for good sound. I run it through my mixer which has good EQ. as well as a Lexicon effects section. Once I do that, the sound is fine. The basic speaker is very easy to use and the manual is very clear.
Quality
I like the way it is built. It is lighter than other speakers with wooden housings and very road worthy. I do use JBL. rolling speaker bags to protect them when traveling. There are no sharp corners to get dinged up, which I think is great.
Value
I think it is a good value. Especially because it travels well being lighter weight than other two way 15" speakers.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to deal with the company so I don't have an opinion. I do know that JBL is a solid company and assume they have good customer service.
The Wow Factor
Not as hot as a Victoria Secret Model but almost. I suppose if I were another piece of PA. gear , I would be seeking out it's Phone number. Or at least seeing if it were available.

"You cannot beat the Quality and the Value."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I will not be replacing them till every single Eon I have is dead! I will repair them as they need it, BUT considering I take of them really well and have only had one mishap I don't see having any problems in the future.
Sound
As Stage manager and producer and am ecstatic with these speakers. I have used the G2's on a rental basis, but for the cost of buying the G2's new versus the 15P's new just didn't make sense. The sound quality is the same between the two and all you get with the G2's is a little extra punch of power of which I don' need in the room setups I do work in.
Features
I do wish the speaker had a built in crossover so I wouldn't have to bring a mixer to every venue, but for the quality of product JBL has definitely hit a home run for the affordable portable market.
Ease of Use
Plug in and GO! What else is there really to say, honestly? You have two cables to plug in power and sound and your set.
Quality
I have 2 pairs of Eon15P's and have not had a single problem with any of them. Though one voice-coil did get knocked lose from carelessness which was not that much to replace cost wise.
Value
For the quality and brand name your getting you are certainly getting what you pay for.
Manufacturer Support
Called them for a replacement 15 inch woofer and speaker grill. No hassle and fast service.
The Wow Factor
Great case design, highly useful for powered monitor with angles built into the case.

"King Eon P-1"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Definately my first and favorite pick for a basic-detailed PA system. Huh? I didn't realize that was an oxy-moron!
Sound
Beautiful architecture, fun and easy to opperate. A little buzzing from the ground though.
Features
All features on this speaker are great. It doesn't need a two band EQ like the G2's have. I just use Aseperate Graphic Equalizer where I can get the real toned sound I want, not some preset EQ that the factory chooses for you like 80HZ and 12KHZ vaiable. That may be too crispy and to deep for some one with a more solid midrange voice if I'm using it in a mic to speaker (no board) applification. With the 15P-1, if I'm not going to use a board or Graphic EQ, then I'm not worried about fine toning my sound. They should have included 1/4 inch input-output jacks though!
Quality
Great. I love the way they look, kind of Phantom like.
Value
I would say that these speakers are worth a little more than what they are retailing at.
Manufacturer Support
Don't know.
The Wow Factor
I want to get my own pair of these for my DJ system. Right now, (Go ahead and laugh) I'm using a pair of 1980's SANYO 3-way 100watt 12' Home Audio speakers, you know, with the particle board wood and the fake laminate oak look, which is almost completely scratched off! I got them at the swap meet for $20, great for bedroom window rattling! Plus the grills smell like they belonged to some one who never stoped smoking cigarettes around them. The woofer blows that smell when you turn the bass up and, I think I'm getting Asthma! :-( The Eon's could also solve this problem for me! :-)

"Simply the best!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Takes a Lickin' but keeps on Tickin!
Sound
I use it for Electronic Drums and it gives me the lows I need without sounding like I am running through a bass amp, and the highs are crisp and clean without sounding like "tin".
Features
Again, the only complaint is the lack of 1/4 inch inputs. Otherwise, perfections has been attained!
Ease of Use
If you can't figure out how to use it, even without the manual, try again after you graduate pre-school!
Quality
Takes whatever abuse it has received, including being dropped on it's head, and just keeps going. A true road warrior!
Value
Obviousl leader in the category for quality and price.
Manufacturer Support
Have never needed company. Apparently, no one else has either!
The Wow Factor
I get more outta this than from my wife!
