I have this and one extender. I did not have any trouble getting them to work with Pro Tools. I used the preset for pro tools on both and it came right up. They have been extremely stable so far. I had an issue once where the extender didn’t come up so I just powered it off and back on then started pro tools back up and it was fine. I’d chalk that up to a usb/computer issue. I have not experienced and fidgety faders as the previous reviewer had noted. To have the meter bridge and the controls this does at the price point is pretty Impressive and that’s why I got it. I do agree with the previous review about the touch sensitivity issue on the faders. I like to nudge faders up with a finger tip. With these units, you do have to rest your finger on the top solidly and then move them for it to track. I have also found that you have to be fairly firm when using the transport buttons too. Maybe they will loosen up with time. All in all these work well for their price point. They are built well in a metal chassis and don’t feel cheap to me. The faders don’t feel like as nice as the really expensive stuff but so far they work fine. I would buy them again.

I wasnt real sure about this product from the beginning but hoped AT LEAST most of the features would work good enough to make it worth $900. Opened the box...so far so good. Very sturdy chassis. Looks sweet. Then i set it on the desk....and thats when things went south. Faders, buttons, knobs all felt cheap and crappy. Seriously, the behringer x32 (which I do happen to enjoy using) has a better, more solid feeling interface. Nevertheless, I plugged it in, set it up with my daw (Reason) and did what I was supposed to do (according to the manual), downloaded firmware, etc., loaded up a recent project, and then we come to the next set of issues. Immediately i see the LEDs for the master channel on the meter bridge is not working, individual channel LEDs show differently than meters in the daw (meter bridge shows -18, daw shows -5, not even close) and, unless your channels are labeled sub-6 characters, its hard to tell what the channels are. Looks alot like this....AcoustBassElectriMandolSub-KiKick...Terrible! Then i notice the noise. This unit makes alot of clicks and pops, faders are very noisy and they dont always move to where they were before when switching between banks. Then when you touch the fader, your daw fader jumps to wherever the control fader happens to be so you have to ride it to the correct position. You cant just "nudge" it up or down with the top or bottom of the fader. You must actually put a finger on the center of the fader to move it. Some of the editing buttons dont do what they say but im sure that could be worked out with the IMAP software if you had a week to figure it out. On top of all this, the SELECT buttons for each channel dont light up when selected so you never really know what channel you are editing. I spent all of about 2 hours with this thing total because at that point is was not worth the money for me to delve deeper with it. Maybe it just doesnt work well with Reason but id be willing to bet all those issues are not solely Daw based. R&D must have fallen asleep on the job on this one! This ended up being a no-brainer for me....send it back and spend my hard earned money on something that actually works and does what it says it does! Maybe mine had a hardware/software issue, maybe future firmware updates fix the issues(this was v1.09), maybe one day even pigs will fly...who knows. NOT RECOMMENDED!! On the plus side?......the jog wheel felt nice.

Icon QCon Pro X Control Surface was one of the most solid control surfaces at it's price and more. It came with several templates, I had a lil issue with pro tools but got it to work fine. Faders are nice and long and the rotatory dials where solid. This machine also looks sleek and has a lil weight to it. I can't wait for a expander :)

Firstly the unit does NOT come with Aluminum plates for each DAW as the image implies. It comes set for Cubase and all other DAW's have this crappy flimsy overlay that does not rest flat due to the screws in the Cubase plate. To make things worse, the wordless instructions show that you are to remove the plate and install a new one for your DAW, which is non existent. There is currently no Mac iMap installer to try and fix the multitude of issues. The Output meter bridge does not work, the faders click and clack when at rest and the lower LCD displays channel 1-8 no matter what channel you are on. And no Mr. Tech Support (non-existent) it is not my computer or my setup. All of the issues above are documented on the iCon garbage website. I registered the product, made and account and no matter what, I cannot login to initiate a help desk ticket. I am returning this, just like I did the Raven Slate POS control surface I purchased. I tore my entire studio apart to accommodate the super tall meter bridge... all for nothing. So disappointed....

What is extremely challenging for me in the audio tech industry is the collaboration of tech companies and hardware companies. Its almost like a monopoly. I said that to say this. I had an issue with my meters not being responsive or glitchy when i first start my session in Logic Pro. I put a ticket in @ iconproaudio.com via help desk, thinking that my board was defective. I also compose tracks in Reason's Propellerhead and I saw that the meters were responsive without the glitchy-ness that I was having with Logic Pro. I also noticed that preset- mapping for all the functions were different as well. Three days went by and I got a response from Icon's help desk and they explained to me that the Mackie Protocol/ script for Logic causes the boards meters to function in a way that was totally out of their control . I asked if they could reach out to these different DAW manufacturer companies to make a script specifically for their hardware. Reluctantly, they stated the only company that allowed them to customize and give maximal functionality was Bitwig. I told Icon Help Desk, " I know you are going to have issues with AVID ( PRO TOOLS) because they make there own control surfaces that they sale and they would make sure they have full functionalty before anybody else." This sucks because this is a GREAT Controller and affordable for my budget. But the down side to it is that the controllers functionality is DAW dependent. I wouldn't want to spend thousands of dollars for something I could get at a fraction of the price. LCD Screen is amazing Fader Touch Sensitivity is perfect I do not have use my mouse anymore and I feel like I'm in the music when i mixing.

"ProX with 3 Extenders"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars

Everything looks great, but after connecting the components to multiple computers in multiple environments, we have learned to never trust iCON. The Pro X's and the extenders (the Pro XS's) simply don't work. Sometimes the work, but never for more than 15 minutes. Good luck working an actual session with any iCON's in your studio!
