I've been playing bass for 4 years, though I advanced quickly due to my experience with other instruments and intense discipline. I'm very pleased with this bass because you're getting a lot of bang for your buck. There are cheaper 6 string basses, but they are 3/4 scale which is useless. This is the least expensive good bass on the market in my opinion. Being a fan of Dream Theater, I saw John Myung's playing and wanted to be able to play an instrument that would allow me to execute anything my heart desired. I use all six strings in my playing in order to execute anything from bass licks to double the guitar, or low and heavy passages. There is room to upgrade, but I wanted something now, and this fit the price range and requirements.

Musical Background:

I play guitar, bass, cello, piano, vocals, I write and produce my own music.

Musical Style:

Classical, Metal, Rock, Electronic, Prog, Neoclassical

Just got this bass less than a week ago. This is a great sounding 6-string bass that rivals any in that price range and more. The body is small compared to other 6-string basses and that makes more comfortable to play. This is the Ibanez signature style of SR basses. This bass has great intonation and sustain. It has that narly growl sound, due to the CAP pick-ups which are stock. The neck is slender and comfortable also, but don't let it fool you , it's still a 6-string so you still have to acomadate for the size. The 3 band EQ gives you an array of sounds. The pictures don't do this any justice, they don't show that sparkle gilitter finish they put on it. You have to see it for yourself. This is a well deserved bass that I added to my arsenal. If you're looking for your 1st 6-string' this is it. I had my choices ESP, ect butI wanted that sounded like the higher end strings but so cheap and affordabale also. It sounds like bartolini's on these. It's just great you won,t beleive it. ZZounds have been great with me. I have it hooked to the legedary Bugera Nuke 3600 watt head and the Behinger BBA 8X10 cabinet. This rig rockss!!! More power than I'll ever need . Ready to go on the pro circuit now. you owe to yourself to by this bass. This bass is the high entry level 6-string bass Ibanez makes. They also have another one which is a little cheaper than this ,This is the one you want. Chek the specs. Trying to learn John Patitucci first cd on it (classic cd).
