Out of the box, I was very very impressed. Very sleek and slender looking guitar. Everything seemed crafted really well upon first look. Key words there: Upon first look. Everything was in it's right place. No dings, marks, etc. The bubinga top is absolutely gorgeous too. The pictures don't do it justice. Threw a new set of strings on after oiling the fretboard down and set the action to my liking. Then came to plugging it in. Although thin, this is a very big sounding guitar. The PAF7's deliver a crushing tone, although lower output Dimarzio pickups. The cleans are crystal clear and sweet as honey. Now we're on to the negative, and there is only one. However, this is no water under the bridge issue. The fret work on this guitar is atrocious. After running my hand down either side of the fretboard, I'm surprised I don't have any cuts. The ends of the frets are sharp and sticking out on either side of the neck. They aren't even remotely level as I am experiencing note buzz on only a few frets, while others are fine. This is inexcusable for a $1000 guitar. I don't know how the rest of the guitar can be so perfect while the fretwork can be so butchered. It's as if the frets were just thrown on the board and they said "alright call it a day guys." I'm not going to return this because I would rather see if I can get the frets dressed PROPERLY because I'm in love with the rest of the guitar. But, I shouldn't even have to seek somebody out to do this work on a guitar in this price range. Get it together Ibanez. If I can't get the fret issue fixed, I will be returning this. I can't give rating for manufacturer support because I have not dealt with Ibanez before.
