Fantastic craftsmanship, minimal set up and check up on the guitar overall. Very impressed and nice Ibby for the collection.
Sound
Compared to a normal RG655 in the line up of new Ibbys this year, it has a darker, but overall punchy and bitey character tone. It compliments the brighter, although by a bit, middy tone of the 655.
Features
The difference in the hardware and features is the lack of a middle single coil pickup and Australian Blackwood veneer top. Overall, not much of a difference. Same neck dimensions and pick up set (minus the True Velvet in the middle). Solid and reliable tuning and tone thanks to the backing support of the Edge Original tremolo.
Ease of Use
I still can get into different tonalities with this beautiful instrument. The DiMarzio pickup configuration is solid and is more than satisfactory for my musical selection and tastes.
Quality
Out of the box, all I had to do was very minor adjustments to intonation and action (just my preference, I am picky even in the slightest). Overall very beautiful craftsmanship.
Value
For the money, if you needed, the RG655 is a wonderful instrument. Both guitars are excellent models and will most definitely suit players of many styles.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had any problems yet, going on a month and change with a couple shows mixed in between.
The Wow Factor
It has a look to it where if you look at it, you just want to pick it up and play it. With a versatile soundset, solid and beautiful construction and looks, I highly recommend this guitar to anyone wanting a beauty of a shredder to their collection.
