I'd been shopping around and reading reviews for various 8 string guitars for about two months now. I finally decided and purchased this model from Zzounds. It arrived well packed and in perfect condition. I had to make some adjustments and tune it, but other than that ,this guitar rocks. The passive Dimarzio pickups are well balanced and quite hot. Ibanez has built an excellent instrument in the RG2228.The gloss black finish is flawless and I should mention the case fits the guitar like a glove. I'm very pleased with this guitar and would recommend it to anyone.

well , in my respnce to this , i have to say the guitar is the best you can buy for any 8 stringer , the neck is paper thin , the Di's are crisp and clear and even in a clean tone with the 5 way selector . The whole guitar is made is a finger frenzy , the only problem i had was the stock 9 gauge strings buzzed like hell , i wanted to send it back at first , but i said to myself , wait a set of 10's with a low end will solve this problem so i ordered a set of ernie ball slinky 8 stringers , 10 - 74 , after i put those on , without even an adjustment (not a truss rod or action) it was perfected like they put 9's on it to #%$ with us , but if you do get this , make sure you get the wound strings in higher gauges . Overall i am happy with my purchase , i do wish i didnt have to change strings but that's Ibanez factory crap. i would recomend this product to anyone who wants to brutally decimate their neighbors with the sound of this guitar .
