This bass will never leave me. I was lucky enough to get it as a gift from my dad, but it is one of those basses that I fall back in love with everytime I pick it up.
Sound
I love the sound of a humbucker. So that was one of the first things to draw me towards this bass. The sound the this bass makes is full, and depending on what style you play it can be nice and smooth or punchy. After looking into other 5 string basses after purchasing this one, I havent found another I like as much.
Features
The only thing I ended up changing from stock is the knobs. They are pretty cheap plastic, so I ended up putting metal chrome knobs on it. I also added a thumbrest, but thats a preference. Other than that, the neck is thin and very easy and comfortable to use. This was my first 5 string bass, and going from a 4 string I was a bit nervous. I tuned it to standard B E A D and havent looked back. If you are going from a 4 string to a 5 string, this bass makes the transition easier.
Ease of Use
The neck was one of the big selling factors for me. Like I mentioned, very easy to get used to. As a whole it is very light weight for a 5 string, but very sturdy. Probably weighs no more than 8 or 9 pounds.
Quality
I have had problems with Ibanez bass necks warping in the past, but I have a good feeling about this one. The rosewood has beautiful grain to it, the body finish is flawless, it it a very well made bass.
Value
For the price point, its hard to do much better.
Manufacturer Support
Didnt have to deal with them. So I guess they did good.
The Wow Factor
Black is sexy.

I will probably use for some time and only replace or upgrade if it gets worn
Sound
Very good sound quality, just a little weaker on the low end.
Features
doesn't really have any features other than tone and pickup volume which are ok
Ease of Use
good sound from it, easy to play. Lighter strings would be better.
Value
great value for the price

"Great inexpensive bass"

Very nice bass for the price. The oiled mahogany finish looks nice and has a great feel to it. The body is actually made of poplar though according to the manufacturer's product page, it's a mahogany colored stain that was applied. So because it's mahogany colored instead of real mahogany, it's much lighter. It's actually lighter than both of my 7 string guitars(one is mahogany the other is basswood).Very comfortable to play. One of the main downsides is that it only has a single pickup, so if you like to rest your thumb on a picking while you play you're more limited. The location of the single pickup isn't bad though, you can rest your thumb there and can pluck without being right up on the bridge. I'm able to rest my thumb on the corner of the neck by the 22nd fret, but I have small thumbs. It doesn't have an active EQ, bass boost or anything, just a volume and tone knob. But at this price to get those things I feel you would have to sacrifice in too many other areas. And of course with this specific color being a natural finish yours won't look like the picture, but I'm happy with the one I received.

As an introduction to 5 string bass, which is all I really wanted it for without spending too much money, it is good for that.
Sound
Decent sound.
Quality
Overall it appears to be solidly built - no complaints there. Electronics seem to be not the best quality - mine came complete with a scratchy tone pot and I just have to wonder how much more it would have cost Ibanez to put actual metal knobs on the controls versus cheap plastic ones.
Value
Basic guitar - if you just want to try your hand at a 5 string, you can't beat the price anywhere.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed any.
The Wow Factor
The mahogany oil version looks like a million dollars. Very classy. Very wow.

"You get what you pay for but I made it work"

I’m purchased this bass back in 2021 under $200. I wanted a 5 string and liked Ibanez basses so I thought this would be a good bass to transition from a 4 string. Out of the box it looks cool as I hate shiny painted guitars and this looks classy and vintage like, it is also very light compared to my fender Jazz bass. The sound and feel is solid after a thorough set up but the problem I had came about 6 months after I purchased it when I noticed it was buzzing bad and realized the neck had developed a very bad back bow. Adjusting the truss rod wasn’t enough to fix the problem so instead of pulling the frets and sanding out the bow I ended up just level sanding the frets to get enough clearance and that did the trick and a year later the neck has not moved. I may end up down the road putting better electronics and hardware on it and pull the frets and do a fretboard level as Ali really like the bass but for now it’s good enough.
