Have you always wanted a classic Music Man Stingray but couldn't bear to part with a kidney on the Russian black market to pay for it? Well, then your ship has come in: the ATK20 delivers on the vintage feel and sound at a price that will make Squier Affinity owners blush. The big, thick neck won't appeal to J-bass and other pencil-neck (the bass, not the player) fans, but it delivers on tone in buckets. Curiously, Ibanez chose to discontinue the ATK20 in 2012 in favor of it's heavier, more costly cousins. The newer ATK200 and 800 and 1200 series are selling for 3 to 11 times what this one costs. The newer ones also weigh in north of 11 lbs.. This one weighs less than 8 lbs. Want controls? Hey you get two, count 'em, TWO knobs. Volume and tone. What could be more vintage than that? Wanna talk frets? The new ATKs have enough sprouts to fill a salad bar. Don't believe it? Go check one out at your local Guitar Barn. I've seen smoother necks on a vulture. This bass has them too, but you aren't paying a premium for it. If you like your bass like Pino Palladino does; big thick and red, then grab this one.
