Ibanez hasn't dissapointed with this product or any other of their instruments I have purchased. I now have a EWAS-20-NT acoustic(another awesome exotic wood series guitar) the EW50MPSE and an Ibanez mandolin. I even bought an Ibanez banner from Hong Kong LOL. I've got my eye on an artcore hollowbody next to join my happy family.
Sound
The sound of the EW50 is passable unplugged. I also play it amplified by Behringer C2 condenser mics and through a Behringer ACX450 Acoustic amp. It sounds good and natural using the mics and really punchy through the amp. I like combining the amp and the mics and the versatility of sounds and tones is awesome. I'm still experimenting(that's what makes it fun!)
Features
The gold hardware on the guitar really sets it off. The electronics give me everything I need - I espcially like the on board tuner and the chorus effect. I'm hoping as the guitar ages, the tone will just get better because of the solid monkey pod constrution.
Quality
I have no problem at all with the finish and fit of the EW50. The monkey pod wood is really eye-catching and rich looking, especially set off by the gold hardware and the mop headstock and fretboard work. I bought the guitar as a 2nd but haven't been able to find a single fault or blemish.
Value
I would buy another just like it for the price I paid with no hesitation.
Manufacturer Support
No problems requiring service or warranty work.
The Wow Factor
The stunning looks and finish of the EW50MPSE alone are enough to make it a must have instrument. Combine that with the playability and versatility of sounds and tones and it's hard to find another guitar in it's price range that compares with it.

"Beautiful guitar"

I really liked the mid level EW series when trying them out so when it was time to buy I wanted to step up a model and get the ew50. I think its this model but I remember mine being acacia solid top. I'm disapointed in this guitar. The acoustic tone is not what I hoped it would be and I believe without side by side not even as rich or loud as the lesser models I tried. The electric tone is usable and does ok but still not as good as I would expect. The notch filter works well with the eq but the chorus tone is atrocious. And no adjustment, just horrible. The playability is also not as good. The action started out fairly high. I lowered it by shaving the bridge to the point where I now get fret buzz around the 14th fret. And the action is still somewhat high. The neck looks straight so I think I need to work from the nut end as well and I think it will play fairly well but overall not amazing to start. I hope Ibanez will take this very good concept and bring it upscale a bit
