I was under the impression that this guitar was made in Germany, it is not, it is made in China. After giving the guitar the once over and then really checking this instrument out, I was totally amazed at the quality of this guitar, the finish was perfect, the binding and inlays were perfect, the intonation was perfect right out of the box, as well as the setup. This guitar stay in tune for days. it feels like you are holding a Les Paul, but playing a Stratocaster with its thin C shape neck. The Pick ups give you full range of sound, from the low end, to the high end and everything in between. I would recommend this guitar, and for the price, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Musical Background:

I have been playing guitar for 40 years, I mostly play Fender Stratocasters and 1970s Ovation Vipers (solid body).

For the sale price I got I wasn't expecting greatness, only acceptable. What a surprise. This is a great guitar hands down. It looks like an old world classic violin,or cello. The attention to detail is impeccable. I have about 7 guitars at present. This one has moved to the front of the line. Now I cannot say this is a Gibson, But for the value I wouldn't pay the difference. It plays smooth, controls are all solid with minimal friction. The neck is beautiful, fret markers and fret ends perfection. The only complaint I have is that cheap aluminum made in China label on back of neck. This should read CRAFTED IN CHINA very proudly. Who cares if this is not MIA, MIK, or MIJ this is an awesome guitar. Get one. The prices have already gone up. Read the other reviews on this before you decide . A definite keeper

Bought this on sale at $250. I own a Hofner Ignition bass and love it, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was blown away by the tone and quality of this instrument, plus it is beautiful. The black is deep and finish is uniform. I wanted cherry, but am very happy with black. Hofner obviously has really good quality control, as workmanship is spot on. It's a definite keeper!

This guitar is excellent. Reviews you may see saying they are closer to Gibson-level quality over Epiphone are true, in my opinion. I love the sound, look and playability! I got a blemished-stock version, I assume because the knobs on mine are a little dinged. A couple of washers rolling around in the electronics cavity, too, those were easily removed.

Musical Background:

Been playing 30 years. Jam at home now.

Musical Style:

Electro-tinged indie, sorta. Plus Gamelan-meets-circuit-bent retro skronk.

"Just bought one"

I fell in love with the look and feel for this guitar the minute I went into the store. I have a 1995 PRS custom, which is a great guitar, but my new Hofner feels good, sounds great and I love to play it. Given that I only paid just over £300 for the guitar, it is a great price for a guitar of this build quality and playability, I play rock and blues, and this guitar is more than up for the job. ....If in doubt, go into a store and play one. This guitar will be around in 20 years, still being played at gigs.

Yes, it's inexpensive, but I was able to set a very playable action. The Hofner pickups have a nice sound ... they're a little different ... brighter.
