"A great guitar, and legitimate alternative to the White Falcon"

Yes, I said an alternative to the White Falcon. I can say that, because I had a Falcon very recently. What I like about this over the Falcon is that this model is more shallow, so more comfortable to play but does not sacrifice any tone in my opinion. Feels and sounds every bit as lively - they really got the bracing right on this. Plus, the Player's Edition upgrades truly are upgrades from even the higher end and vintage reissue models. Strap locks are way better than the traditional Gretsch threaded strap retainers. The locking tuning machines are a must for any tremolo guitar. The rounded bridge eliminates the buzzing and rattling that can come with the TOM styles (and they are better for tuning stability as well). And the pinned bridge keeps intonation perfect when doing maintenance. The string through Bigsby makes string changes easier and quicker and removes the frustration. Lastly, the more understated look of this guitar is in my opinion classier than the truly gaudy/garish White Falcon in all its gold sparkled glory. I also want to say how great the pickups are. I used to accept only TV Jones Classics, like what was in the version of the Falcon I had, but these Gretsch Filtertrons, in my opinion, are just as good. Clear, chime, yet there's some nice warmth there too. Fantastic pickups, and simplified electronics make this a no-mods-needed professional instrument. This may be the perfect Gretsch hollow body at any price.
