I am most pleased with this bass. The pickups are very responsive. The bridge pickup is very articulate and helps bring out the high end of the bass. The neck pickup allows the bottom end to boom. The tone knob offers a lot of treble, which gives more room for dialing in the tone and sound you want your bass to have. The sustain on this bass is phenomenal. I was very surprised considering this is an import bass. The tuners work well, but they could be better. The bridge is very high mass, which contributes to the sustain, and easy to set up. The neck joint is well fitted. The stock strings are decent. The neck is very smooth and fast. The bass is not too heavy. It is a lighter bass that can be played while standing. There were no blemishes on the finish.

I purchased this bass from zZounds this month. It was a blemish but for the life of me I can't a thing wrong with it. It plays so easy you'd think you were playing a guitar. The sound is great with a wide selections of tone. If you are looking for a bass that plays well, sounds good and great price this is the one. I've owned a Rickenbacker, a 56 Fender jazz, a 2000 era Fender jazz but I like this one more

Musical Background:

Been playing bass and guitar for 42 years. I'm in 2 bands that play 60's 70's and 80's rock

for the money this bass sounds as good as my main bass, a Rickenbacker 4003, and has more versatility in its tonal range at a third the price! having played a real signature jazz bass,[the famous signature being someone who was known for playing a rick. before switching to a jazz] in my humble opinion, this bass has a much wider range of sounds! I cant wait to play it at my upcoming jobs in the next few weeks, and am confident it will perform to my expectations!

"The JB2"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

People use the phrase "Tribute" and say that the JB2 isn't an authentic. Why? They're made virtually idental is craftsmanship and parts. The one difference. The place that it's manufactured. Well... I have a G&L JB2 made right in Fullerton CA. Where Leo created this beast. It plays unsubstantially well nobody who picks one up can say different. Yes. It's a tribute. But a tribute to a bass "Fender Jazz" , that was created and produced by a man who only remade his first bass. So I think of it as a lesser known but heavyweight contender in the bass world. And an upgrade to a king.

"G&L Tribute JB2 bass guitar"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I have owned one for about three (3) years or better and played it quite a lot. It feels good in my hands. The weight is not too heavy nor too light. The sound is good and well rounded, I can get bottom or punch as needed. The neck and playing position feel good. I have played rock, country, and blues with it and have not been disappointed. For my budget and musical tastes this bass was just right. All I needed to do was add a set of D'Addario light gauge flatwounds and start playing. No problems except the zipper on the gig bag broke. Get you one, you won't be disappointed.

Musical Background:

I played for a living while I lived in Memphis but after moving to Perryville I play two to three weekends a month.

Musical Style:

Started playing country about 55 years ago then added rock, soul, bluegrass, blues, show tunes, swing, and whatever else I neede

This is a great playing bass!!! As well as a great sounding and beautiful to boot. I've have or currently own a Rickenbacker, a Fender P bass, 2 Fender jazz (1 is a 1956) and Fender Squier jazz and let me tell you this G&L is my go to bass. It plays like a dream. The neck is smaller than any Fender and I have the strings action set low. If you are looking for a bass that won't break the bank and plays, sounds and looks great ( I've got the natural finished) get one. BTW zZounds and G&L has great service after the sale. It was missing a set screw to lock in the bridge. I contacted zZounds who in turned reached out to G&L. They mailed me the part very quickly I might add.

Musical Background:

Been plying for 44 yrs. off and on. I play rock, blues and R&B. Currently playing in a band
