After a quick string change and setup this guitar plays like butter and sounds fantastic. The top mount Floyd stays in tune exceptionally well, and the Dirty Fingers pickups are ( as always ) my favorites. Simply a great guitar IMO

I saw this guitar available on zZounds.com, and I was truly surprised. I had never seen a Gibson sg with a Floyd Rose before, and having another sg, and wishing it had a Floyd, it was like Christmas in August. This guitar is just a dream to play. And the only way I can describe its sound, it's like God made the pickups. Just incredible.
Sound
To start with the sound on this amazing instrument is sublime. It's an unbelievably heavy sounding guitar. I play through a peavey 6505, and it's super heavy. The pickups I swear sound active. There not, but they sound it. Super loud, and very thick, but incredibly clear on the lead channel. On the clean channel there almost clarion like. Just amazing, and almost no hiss or noise, even without a noise gate. Just excellent on the sound end. And if I had to rate the sound from a 1 to a 10, an absolute 10. Highest marks.
Features
Every feature on this guitar is amazing. Great placement on the volume and tone knobs. The finish, which is flat black, is beautiful. And personally I prefer the flat black finish, for the simple reason you never see any fingerprints at all. Mahogany is my favorite wood on all my solid body guitars, because the resonance is just beautiful. The mahogany neck is just perfect as well. The neck is just so smooth, and super fast. It's effortless to play blindingly fast on this guitar. The fretboard, which is made from richlite, feels like any ebony fretboard. I swear, if you've played on an ebony fretboard( which I prefer over all others) it feels just like that. I don't know how Gibson does it, but they have so many geniuses working for them, and I've had many guitars in my life, but the 3 Gibson's I own, are by far the most well made. If I had one complaint about this exquisite instrument, it would be that it takes a while to get use to the top mounted Floyd Rose. Especially if your use to a normal one. It's not bad at all, and once you get use to it, it's amazing. But if I'm going to be fare, there is an adjustment period. Also, I'm not a big fan of gig bags, all my other Gibson's have hard shell cases, and I still might get one for this guitar. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised on how nice the gig bag is. It has this soft plush material inside, the same material that Gibson uses on their hard cases, and it has this really thick durable canvas on the outside. Also it has a really big pouch on the front. Just really nice, and a big pleasant surprise.
Ease of Use
It's incredibly easy to get great tones out of this guitar. Seriously, just plug it in. It sounds that good. I've played metal, rock, jazz, classical, and hip hop on this guitar. And with just slight adjustments on my amp, I was able to get pretty much any sound I wanted. On the playing side, it's just amazing. I can't say enough about how easy it is to play this guitar. It's got a c shaped neck profile, and it's fairly thick, compared to an ibanez th or s series, but it has an amazingly flat 12 inch radius. And it's really effortless to speed pic, and do arpeggio sweeps, legato runs. Just a dream to play.
Quality
This guitar is truly built like a tank. Seriously, it's Gibson. That's all I need to say. Just a piece of art work. And for those of you have played sg's before, just the easiest guitar to play for hours. So light( it actually, according to the scale I weighed it on, weighs 4.9lbs.). It's so comfortable that your never gonna want to put it down. And in terms of how long will this product last? I'm gonna say that this guitar will be passed down from generation to generation. That's how well it's made.
Value
This guitar is worth every penny of the $1299 asking price. In my mind and if they charged $2000, it would be worth it. It's just quality through, and through.
Manufacturer Support
Gibson is just the best, and most friendly guitar company I've ever dealt with. I haven't had an issue with this current guitar, but on my other sg, my friend was playing it, and wasn't paying attention, and slammed the headstock into a wall, and broke the tuning peg. I called them, and I thought it was gonna cost me. They Sent me the tuning peg, and tuning machine, free of charge, and told me if I wanted too, they'd replace it for me as well, I'd just have to send it in, all I have to do is pay for shipping. They couldn't be nicer. It was just an amazing experience.
The Wow Factor
This guitar is flat black, with red highlights on the pickups, and headstock, and volume knobs. And all black hardware. No fret inlays, and no pick guard. No frills. The best way I could describe it, is mean looking. Just vicious. And sounds just as angry. I love it. Big time. It might not be for everyone. But it's hot as hell to me. Plus the Gibson sg body style has always been a favorite of mine.
