This gibson studio in Pelham blue has really blown me away. Never really cared for my lp traditional and the 50s tribute lp looked like it was rushed through finishing. So, I was going out on a limb trying this one. Low and behold it is quite a fantastic guitar.
Sound
Rich and warm tone, but with enough bite to keep it from getting muddy. Does classic rock extremely well, not too hot and not to thin. Very versatile pickups.
Features
Build is quite good. Can't say it is perfect, but few guitars are if you look hard enough. This ones quite a beauty and is quite well appointed with hardware, pickups, and the finish is excellent.
Ease of Use
Didn't take much for me to get it sounding good. Could benefit from a setup mostly in terms of the nut which is pinging a bit when tuning. Easy and common fix. Otherwise, play is quite good. Sounded good right out of the box.
Quality
Overall, I do think this studio is quite well made. Not perfect, but seriously I haven't come across one yet at any price that was. This is darn good for the money especially at the discount i got from zzounds. Should last a lifetime.
Value
Definitely a great guitar for the money. Looking to buy an sg now. Really love this guitar.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed to contact gibson. Probably only have average customer service, but not a big deal. Hopefully, I won't need to.
The Wow Factor
Binding would set off the wow factor more, but the cool color, tone, and playability have me more than happy.

"Great Guitar"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I had owned a Les Paul in the late 70s and loved it. It was stolen in the 80s and I replaced it with an Ibenez. Then later a Jackson. But was never really satisfied. From the moment I took the Les Paul out of the case and played it I realized that I should have stayed with Gibson from the beginning
Sound
Gibson has a deep rich tone, and the sustain is incredible .whether I am on the 490 or 498 pick up. The clean tones are full and the overdriven tone from the humbuckers are perfect.
Features
I haven't used the split coil pick ups much but you can tell the difference. Was worried about the Granadillo fretboard but it's very smooth to the touch and the lighter reddish color is perfect for the Wine red finish I chose. And the lack of binding around the body doesn't matter, I think it' looks better without it
Ease of Use
This guitar is great,Les Pauls get the best sound.I run it through a IPB 10 by Digitech(also purchased from Zzounds)into a Fender Amp. I'm getting the best tone I've ever gotten from my equipment (38 years)
Quality
It's a solid Guitar, the 1st one I ordered had a bad grounding issue.so I sent in a return request and Zzounds had a new guitar shipped as soon as U.P.S scanned my return. This 1 is flawless.
Value
I got a great price, they beat the other online stores by $200.00
Manufacturer Support
Didn't have to deal with them since Zzounds took care of my issue
The Wow Factor
It's Gibson , they've always been top of the line

"Life changing guitar"

I've been playing for almost 30 years. For the last 15-16 years, I've played and owned mostly Jackson guitars. Owned an SG and a Flying V but thought the necks were not as comfortable as the Jackson's. Jimmy Page and his '59 'Burst, and especially Randy Rhoads and his white Les Paul always made me want one, but being lefty, I never could try one. Finally, I saw this studio, with a "tapered neck" and made the plunge. Let me first say, zZounds is amazing. Everyone I have dealt with there are very friendly and extremely accommodating. Every time I order something, it's at my door, the next day! This Les Paul is the best guitar I have ever played, hands down, not even close. It can rip for metal, tone it down for blues and everything in between. Every guitar I have, I change out the pickups. Stock pickups usually are crap. I wouldn't even consider it with the Les Paul. Perfect sound and versatile. One thing I did need to do is start using lube for the nut and saddles. Seems like a design issue with the pitch and placement of the D and G tuning pegs. It adds a few minutes to string changing, but a small price to pay. I haven't touched my Jackson since I got this guitar.

I want to thank ZZounds for their amazing efforts in making easy pay options available. It's is my first electric guitar. I have a fender 25R amp, and this guitar came in excellent condition. Beautiful fireburst finish. So far i have not had any problems keeping the guitar in tune, and i play it almost everyday for at least an hour. This is the second purchase I have made from ZZounds. Spot on all the way. I like the way it plays and feels.

I recently purchased a Gibson Les Paul ( Studio) Gold Top, from ZZOUNDS and I am very pleased with my purchase. The Les Paul is made with excellent craftsmanship, and ZZOUNDS made the purchasing of the guitar hassle free and got it delivered to me with 5days of purchase. I am really impressed with the quality of the Les Paul Studio and the price point. Way to go Gibson, good job. This my first Les Paul Studio. I own other Les Paul Standards, and I have to say the Studio is of equal playability and cosmetically she is beautiful also. I have been doing business with ZZOUNDS for several years now and they have always meet and exceeded what the promise, especially with the PLAY as you PAY. I have used that service several times over the years and it makes owing new gear easy and affordable. I always to ZZOUNDS first when I am in the market for a new guitar, amp, pedal or other gear. This guitar is every thing you could expect on a lower mid line Les Paul. The sustain, resonance, this guitar sounds great and looks great. Switchable pots for single coil selection gives many options for any sound for any type of music. Although I must admit I bought this guitar for my brother who is left handed which I am not but I did spend an hour messing with it myself and hours with my brother playing it. I'm definitely going to get one for me hopefully sooner than later. Forgot to mention the case it came with fits the guitar comfortably snug like a shoe on a foot. No cons except a little nik on the case and a deep rub w/ a slight tear on the Gibson shipping box but nothing wrong with shipping box that the Gibson box came in from Zzounds but anyways the case protected the guitar as expected despite the small nik no worries not worth crying about barely noticeable over all great guitar nice case.

I bought one of the left handed les paul studio 60s tribute models a few years back.. altough it had an ok sound w the p90s, I didn't bond w it at all. Wouldn't stay in tune.. gig bag, seemed very light and cheaply made. It messed me up completely w Gibsons for years. Anyways, fast foward to now I stumbled on this model one night just looking to see what lefty les pauls were around not even really thinking of buying one. The monthly payments price was just too good so I ordered one from here at zZounds.. man I gotta say this guitar was the same price and on am entirely different level. This thing is a beast. A real les paul that doesn't cost u an arm and a leg. The split coils sound great, beautiful cherry finish on mine.. pretty nice hardshell case too! Best if all this thing stays in tune like no les paul ive ever seen! If you're a lefty like me we don't have many options. I'd give this a shot. I dont think you'll be dissapointed.

Sounds greats. It arrived with really high action though. And intonation was slightly off. I had to file the nut a bit because the strings sat very high. It sounds and feels great but the quality control wasn't that great. Coil tap is killer for clean parts.

guitar is great but i don't think zzounds inspected it before it shipped. i almost sent it back but it plays good so i kept it. the fingerboard has chips on broken on the last fret and space after the last fret. the gold pickup covers were also very dirty. even now when i clean them there is some residue i cant get off it. if i could do it over again i think i would have returned it for another one. even though it was a good price i think it would have been considered b stock by most standards.

Excellent guitar. Stripped down LP cosmetically but that is all. Great tone and sustain with the stock pickups.Intonations was perfect right out of the case. I see no need to upgrade anything Neck is really nice 60's thinner profile and finish is very pretty. Mine was a "blemished" model but I still can't find the blemish. Came with a Gibson case. I have been playing for over 30 years and this is a really great playing instrument for all levels and a great deal for a Gibson. I own Gibsons, Epiphones, Fender Strat, Guilds and others. This is one of my favorites now. My only complaint or gripe is that the strap buttons seem to be very slim but nothing that can't be fixed with a 5/16 rubber washer or new straplocks if you want to install them. I used washers and they work fine. I also dont find the coil tap single coil sound that great but I didnt buy this model les paul to have a single coil tone so I dont really care. It is a good option and works well,I just prefer a Strat tone for that.

Very happy with this guitar. Excellent intonation and feel. Stock pickups are wonderful and action was set perfectly. STAYS IN TUNE!! Nice finish, very vintage. It's basically a stripped down Standard LP sacrificing only the " bling" factor. A great guitar for any level. I've been playing for over 30 years and own about 15 guitars including Gibson, Epiphone, Fender, Guild, Yamaha an RWG. This is one of my new favorities. Mine was a blemished model and I have yet to find the blemish. I think it was only because it was a 2012 model and I purchased it in February of 2016. Came with a Gibson harshell case. Not the best case but does the job fine. Strap buttons seem a bit smaller than others but that's an easy fix with strap locks or simple 5/16 rubber washers. Love this thing.

I have been playing for 30+ years. I practice most everyday and gig just about every weekend. This was the worst playing guitar I ever had in my hands. The frets were way to high not to mention the extruded off the fret board nearly cutting your hand. I tried smaller strings, lowering the action, nothing helped this guitar from hurting you fingers. If this is what gibson has to offer for a guitar I guess thats why I have been playing a fender for so long and will continue.I give the Gibson Les Paul Studio No stars!!!!!!! Thank God for the return policy these people rock and have earned my music business.
