When I saw that prices on 2013 Gibsons had been slashed I started looking for the nicest Les Paul I could find. ZZounds had it in a gorgeous Honeyburst Quilt that is absolutely the best looking, best playing Gibson Les Paul I've ever owned (out of 111 of them in my 48 years of playing). And the price was amazing! Splitting it into 12 payments made it a no-brainer. I will be shopping here NEXT December too!

I purchased a blem 2013 LP quilt top in Heritage Cherry burst. There were no pictures of the actual units in stock available online so I took a chance knowing that the quilt quality can be pretty varied.Product came shipped in the original case, in the original Gibson shipping box, in an additional outer box. No damage to the packaging.Unboxed the product and was very happy to see that the finish, though the product was a blem (site says these are generally returned items), was in great shape with only a few scratches on the horn by the top strap button. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by the bookmatching of the top and the only lightly quilted top. In addition, the setup on the guitar was terrible. It had been restrung poorly (not even one wrap around the pegs, let alone a locking wrap) and would not stay in tune, the intonation was a little off, and the action was pretty high. To put it mildly, I was disappointed that the zZounds advertised it as "tested to manufacturer's specifications and is guaranteed to work perfectly", it was not working perfectly. I called for an RMA. It took a couple of days over the holidays to get the RMA issued, but the process to get an RMA was simple and easy. I had an email conversation with a customer service rep about the setup who told me that they recommend all guitarists get guitars set up and this is not considered a defect and that all of the issues sound consistent with a blem. I would agree that you should get a setup to your liking, but the thing should be strung properly and have proper intonation when you get it. I returned the guitar by insured FedEx. It was received on a Monday and I had my refund on my card by Thursday am.While this transaction did not work out for me, I'll give zZounds good marks for order processing, shipping, and the RMA process. The fact that the guitar was not pretty enough for me is my issue, otherwise the guitar was in excellent cosmetic shape. I think more attention should have been paid to getting this product ready for resale, however.

Received mine today and am just totally floored. The quilt is so beautiful and 3d, easily as nice as any custom shop out there. The new pull/pots system is awesome. Love all the tonal combinations with this. Best thing Gibson's done in a long time. My main amp is a Bad Cat Hot Cat 30 and the sound is just wicked. Also have a Bruno UG30 and 1970 Fender Vibrolux. The weight is just 8.3 and this baby resonates and sustains acoustically and amplified like you will not believe and I've owned tons of these over my 30+ year playing career. Rock On!!

Musical Background:

I have a dctorate in music. Over 30 years as a performer and 27 as a teacher.

Musical Style:

I sound like a crossover of vintage 70's Beck and Holdsworth but am into literally everything and play it all.
