I LOVE IT! Gibson nailed it... NR is sweet. PAF + tone, buttery neck with superior access, satin mahogany body for improved tone. $ wise it's a bit pricey but in my opinion well worth it very high quality musical instrument. Simplicity and value +...Kudos to zZounds for the installments. My only guitar now and maybe forever? Pick your style and be rewarded. Thank You Gibson.

First off, you can't go wrong with a solid slab of mahogany and a good pickup, be it a P90 or a PAF. This appears to be a solid chunk of wood, neck included, with only a hint of a heel. The Burstbuckers offer a more brutal tone than my Les Paul Jr., which is handy for certain tunes. And the non-reverse Firebird shape offers the most total fretboard access of any guitar I've owned. Extremely well-balanced, dare I even say ergodynamic, for the way your hand fits behind the bridge? Makes for some nice showmanship. And the looks! That Brian Jones favored this in '66, plus the shot of Mike Ness playing one on the back of Social Distorion's Mommy's Little Monster, give non-reverse "birds such a high cool factor, plus how much they resemble offset Fenders, but better. But throw on the hot rod appeal of the metallic copper paint job and stripped down control layout, with all hardware in black? That's just candy GREAT guitar!

"Great workmans guitar"

I bought this guitar on zZounds because it was a great deal. I have had my eye on one of these for a year or so now and finally pulled the trigger and am glad that I did. My guitar is a workhorse. It is very basic with nothing fancy except the classic Gibson tone. The fit and finish were all spot on out of the box. The intonement was surprisingly good as well. The guitar really plays like and sounds like a Gibson SG Standard, and that is a good thing. It is a little deeper than the SG but that is what you get on it, in my opinion. It is perfect for most genres of music also but really has the look for anyone playing out at bars and small clubs. No regrets with this purchase.
