Gibson BurstBucker 2 Humbucker Pickup

Recapture the classic sound only Gibson's "Patent Applied For" humbuckers from the 1950s could produce, with the medium-output BurstBucker Type 2 pickup.

I've tried many pickups, but this one finally does it for me. So far these Burstbuckers fit best. They have a definite vintage sound! Not modern sounding and just the buzz I needed. I've tried Duncan which were too modern for me and Burstbucker Pros which seemed to be hotter than 3 with wax-potting. I like them un-potted so I can get dist. feedback LOL. Also great job zzounds for fast accurate order!

"Is this "REALLY" a good pickup???"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
again this is a really good pickup
Sound
Its a pretty close approximation of a vintage 59 paf, although in very high gain settings it squeals and occilates because of the lack of potting. But...i assume the lack of wax potting also contributes to the vintage sound...so its a trade-off. But all in all a very nice sounding pickup for 100 bux

The Wow Factor
well i try not to pay any attention to Product "names"..or expert "reviews"..or any kind of spin that the Money people put on a product. I try to remain impartial and have went to extremes to judge a product on its actual merits (based in my reality), and have tried to cast out any type of influence through "other" sources that would bias my opinion on a product. Many times i am surprised at what i discover(like admitting that a $200. no-name import sounds better than a top dollar american made classic. Reality is sometimes hard to deal with, and some people absolutely refuse to deal with it....
