Genz Benz NEOX 212T Bass Cabinet (600 Watts, 2x12")

While 2x12 inch speakers at 600 Watts is more than enough oomph for most applications, this cab features dual edge porting for improved sound projection.

"GENZ-BENZ NEOX-212T ... GO AND GET IT!"

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
As mentioned I have been looking for a cab that could produce the sound I had in my head - somewhere between a mix of 10" and 15" speakers. This cab has got it. I won't change in a long time - maybe just add another to be cool!
Sound
I had 15" and 10" cabs played on either their own or hooked up. I tried all the well known brands that I could lay my hands on. As I use 6-string basses (Yamaha TRB & Cort) mainly and cover all types of music I was looking for that inbetween sound that covers the entire frequency spectrum. This is it! I have an Eden WT550 Traveler on top of it. This cab has all the low mid growl without losing the tops or the bottoms. You can go from clean to downright dirty. Cut the mids on the bass a little and the slap tone is second to none. It is loud as hell and heavy on the ears. Live it cuts through the mix and sounds good whether you stand in front or next to it. I guess that's what we all look for in a decent bass cab!
Features
This cab is light! It contains cast frame neodymium speakers which are super powerful yet light due to the smaller but more powerful magnet. It is rated at 600w RMS at 4 ohms. That means you will get all the headroom out of your amp as well. The grill is solid and "bowed" which means it won't easy be kicked in. At the rear it has one Speakon and two normal jacks as well as the tweeter control. The tweeter in particular and crossover freq was well selected and the sound is never screechy! That all you need anyway.
Ease of Use
As mentioned it is easy to dial in just about any sound on this cab. The corssover freq and tweeter works very well - you can turn it flatout and still it won't be over the top. I have mine set 75% up. With an active bass by cutting the mids and adding a little bass here and there you can go from a rock sound that will knock over walls to a clean slap sound without touching the amp. Great stuff. I just love my Genz-Benz ... out goes the alu speakers and others!
Quality
Certainly compared to the other products I have used this cabinet is very well made. All screws were tight except for the two jack inputs one the rear. But then again they were not that loose that they would have inscrewed themselves. The carpet covering, corners, handles with metal inserts and wheeels are all cool. Basically the cab is so light that I rather just pick it up and carry it!
Value
Fairly expensive cab but then again compared to other serious name brands, it is acceptable. It is powerful and has all the latest mod cons we want. So yes, I am happy apying for it.
Manufacturer Support
None needed and I don't think I will need it.
The Wow Factor
Looks don't bother me - the sound is what counts and the cab has it written all over it!

I needed a bass cabinet that was easy to maneuver around New York City clubs and bars. It had to fit in my car and meet my two main concerns; big sound in a light package. After several recommendations from notable players; I decided to give Genz Benz a try with their NEOX 2x12T. I was pleasantly surprised! This cabinet is unbelievably light with intuitive handles, not in the middle of the side like you would normally find, but at the very top sides of the cabinet making it very easy to lift. There are also polymer wheels on the back making for a smooth transition from the car to the club. This 2x12T is rated 600 watts @ 4 Ohms which is perfect for so many of the newer hybrid bass heads that are all the rage these days. I myself am using a two channel ampeg svt 4pro which is 600 watts per channel @ 4 Ohms which gives me the option of adding another cabinet but to be honest I have used this setup outside with 2 guitars, and a booming drummer and had plenty of head room. You will love the sound of this cabinet and it also features a tweeter control on the back of the cabinet so you can control your highs to your liking. If you are looking for a great sounding cabinet that is easy to transport give the Neox 2x12T a try- you will wonder how you ever got by without it!

I can't believe a cabinet can sound so powerful with great tone for such a low weight & be priced well below $1000. Genz Benz has won over a new customer.
Sound
Fantastic, huge sound out of such a light cabinet. Don't need any 15's to supplement. Jaw dropping.
Features
Has tweeter control & speakon jack - that's all you need.
Quality
I saved almost $200 by buying a blem cabinet. Haven't found a single blemish, & the cabinet itself is well designed and well made.
Value
I was stunned at how great these speakers sounded with a peavey head & Fender Precision Deluxe. It surpassed my expectations.
Manufacturer Support
Genz Benz has an excellent reputation for customer service from the research I've done.
The Wow Factor
The cabinet itself looks sharp, with an aggressive looking grill & side ports.
