Gator GWE-JAG Jaguar Case Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Bottom line: Fits my offset guitar Quality is good Didn't break the bank
Sound
This case sounds great.
Features
Traditional design, locking latches, storage compartment under the neck, plush interior. Also very light for a wood case, I was surprised by this.
Ease of Use
Only complaint: I wish the storage compartment was split so I could access it without removing the guitar from the case.
Quality
Latches aren't finicky like some others. I think they use pine instead of plywood, so the weight is noticeably lighter than cheaper cases.
Value
I wanted a case to fit my Classic Player Jazzmaster. The Fender cases were much more expensive and I read this would fit my guitar. So yes, it's a very good value if you have a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster.
The Wow Factor
My Jazzmaster is my favorite guitar, so I definitely needed a hard case for it. Gig bags don't cut it. Tweed or brown tolex would be more desirable, but this is nice too.

This is the second case like this one I purchased through zZounds. The first was for my Danelectro '59 NOS+. The closest thing I could find made specifically for the Danelectro was a gig bag made by the company. I needed a hardshell case good enough for keeping her safe and protected, as well as transporting to practice and little gigs. Due to the Danelectro's size/shape, it wasn't easy finding the right case. This one fit the bill! When I bought a Danelectro Longhorn Short scale bass, I knew just where to go and which case to get for her. As with the previous Danelectro model, the fit is just right. It also features a very roomy compartment for storing strings, cables, etc. There is one minor issue some may have, which I experienced with the first case; they tend to lock on their own now and again. When my first one arrived, it came already locked...with the keys inside. Luckily I have several guitars and cases and found a key similar enough to get her open. It's only locked on it's one twice since. I contacted the company and they get this complaint from others, also. It's also important for me to point out that this is not a "road worthy" case. That is to say, I would not trust it to hold up too well on extended gigs where it's going on and off the bus, plane, etc. If it does, it never leaves my personal hand.

"Gator Jaguar/Jazzmaster hardshell case"

I needed a case for my Danelectro '59 NOS+ which I had recently purchased. I was not able to find any hardshell cases made specifically for this guitar, though Danelectro does offer a gig bag. I'm not a fan of gig bags, myself. I am in love with my Danelectro and want her to have a safe and secure place to be kept when I'm not playing her. So my quest for a proper fitting case began...
Sound
It sounds okay. One of the latches doesn't seem to keep in tune as well as the others, though. I plan on taking it to a quality luthier to have it professionally set up. I'm kidding, I'm kidding...it's just a case, kids!
Features
The case is reasonably well made. It is a good case for storing your instrument, going to a small gig or practice where you handle it yourself, but I don't see it standing up to the riggers of an actual tour. It is light weight, but not flimsy feeling. The handle is just hard plastic with no leather nor vinyl covering.
Ease of Use
It opens and closes well and the latches line up properly.
Quality
As previously stated, I don't see this as a "road ready" case. That said, it seems to be fairly well made. The biggest issues is with the locking latch. The case came to me locked...with the keys inside! I contacted zZounds (noting it was no fault of theirs) to see if they could send me a key or something. The said they had have a few other complaints about these arriving locked. They had no extra keys and suggested I contact Gator. I'm still awaiting a reply from Gator. Luckily, I had a similar key, got the case open and found the Gator keys. As it turns out, these cases just lock themselves randomly after various times opening and closing the lock latch. So that's kinda fun to deal with, kids.
Value
It's a decent enough case for keeping you guitar safe from dust and what not around the house or traveling to and from local gigs and practice. She won't last too long on my next world tour, so I guess the Danelectro will have to set that one out.
Manufacturer Support
Meanwhile, I'm still awaiting a response form Gator on the key issue.
The Wow Factor
No real "Wow" factor here, kids.

"OK case for the money"

Most of the cases for the Jaguar that I have seen are fairly expensive. This was a price that I could live with, but only because I no longer play in clubs. If you keep your instrument home, or do some light travel, I think the case will suffice. If you work the clubs on weekends I would look for something sturdier.
