After a 20+ year hiatus I decided to pick up the bass again. My old rig, a Fender Sidekick 65 and an early G&L L2000 being long gone. I decided to skip the pawn shops and buy new. I ended up with a Yamaha TRBX 504 ( an outstanding instrument) and this Fender Rumble 40. It's a surprisingly capable amp for it's size. Better tone than you would expect from a 10 inch speaker. And more clean volume than I expected from 40 watts. The overdrive is ample for my needs, though a metal head may need more. The contour and especially the vintage functions are very good. The bright button has a noticeable effect but with my setup and style it's not really useful. Only real complaint, It would be nice to have an effects loop.

I had the Rumble 100 but sold it b/c it was too loud for my bedroom and family was complaining about how loud the amp was. So I got the Rumble 40 and although it is still pretty loud, it’s more manageable and I’ve not had any complaints from the family.

Wasn't expecting much from just 40 watts but my god this things packs one hell of a punch. For it's size and weight it is a perfect practice/small gig amp.

I love this amp. I live with people in a non-isolated room so I can't be too loud so just the 40 is perfect for my needs. The tone sounds great, I love how it sounds with just the flat eq. The unique voicing buttons are very useful for shaping your sound too. I couldnt ask for more, not too loud but can get pretty loud for a 40 watt 10" speaker and sounds great. Highly recommend

The lady two blocks away came over and asked if I’d turn it down because she just put her baby down for a nap and of course I did. Durable and tough enough for full blasting with no problems after 4 years of constant use strong as a M-79 Patton tank.

Great once I replaced the speaker. Started with a 25. Overall much more impressive out of the box but returned for 40. Took it home and it did not sound as solid as the 25. Reason? The 25 is a particle board cab as opposed to wood on the 40. No insulation is used to get the port to compensate for the cheap speaker and that bare plywood honk comes to light. Luckily, I had a beefy 10" 8 ohm on the shelf and a small piece of insulation transformed this in to a contender. So, be aware! The reviews of this amp rave on and on five stars but inside it is the cheapest possible speaker they could install and won't last long for bass. Don't know if I would have kept it or just bought something else if I would had to spend another hundred on a suitable speaker but if you do it does make a nice small amp even with the added couple pounds a real speaker weighs. Same goes for 25 great amp but if I would have kept it I would have upgraded the speaker also.

Bought this as a practice amp for the house. First thing I noticed was it weighs next to nothing... Sadly this is mostly because of the totally anemic & lightweight speaker it comes with. First thing I did was to pull that thing out and replace it with an Eminence B210-4 I happened to have new in the box. It made all the difference in the world. Now this lil' baby roars. The speaker loafs along at full output and has the added plus of being 4 ohms. The stock speaker was 8 so the amp puts out more like 50 / 60 watts instead of 40. I'm a happy camper now!

I've been gigging with this amp for the last two months. It's surprisingly lightweight - feels like half the weight of my Peavey 115 Max I used before it. But it also lacks a certain mid-range oomph that I've felt on other amps, that makes it less great at cutting through a mix.Plus, definitely, that it has XLR out and all that jazz, so this doesn't matter much at bigger venues, but it's still not quite enough for practice-levels for me.
