I expect this amp to last like other Fender amps. I plan to get a few mods done to enrich the tone slightly. These amps are a great foundation to build your typical arsenal of tones with pedals. I will keep this amp. I already bought a backup so I don't have any down time if this one goes on the fritz. If it were stolen, I'd replace it. I do my homework before buying, so there's nothing I wish I knew before I bought it. What I like most about this amp besides its performance is the ease of use and load ins/outs and set up. Quick and easy and it doesn't take up a lot of precious stage space.
Sound
The Python Ltd Ed Hot Rod Deluxe is a great amp for gigging. Especially blues players will enjoy the way the amp breaks up when driven. The Vintage 30 speaker does wonders for the tone. This amp is as at home in the studio as it is onstage. It takes pedals very well. With a few simple adjustments, this amp sits well in the mix. It can hold its own. I did add a volume pedal in order to keep the tones of a driven tube amp at bedroom volumes. It works great and helps with tone vs volume situations at gigs. I do plan to do some mods to get the tone as close to perfect as it can get. Out of the box, it still sounds great after speaker break-in time.
Features
The amp comes with reverb. Anything else you might need can be satisfied with your favorite pedals. It also comes with a footswitch for selecting channels and grind and more grind. The reverb tank is covered with vinyl. And it comes with a Fender cover. Fender provides an amp that delivers a range of tones that should satisfy players of all styles except maybe heavy metal. It will take pedals to get the gain needed for heavy metal, so it could be used for that also.
Ease of Use
This is a classic Fender amp and has the same classic ease of use. You won't be doing any deep editing on this amp.
Quality
It's a classic Fender designed amp. Do I really need to say more? Trust it. Gig it. That's what it's made to do. And it's made well.
Value
These amps are a great bang for the buck. I believe that Fender amps hold as good resale value as any other mass produced amps out there today.
Manufacturer Support
I have needed no contact with support. Therefore, I have no experience with them.
The Wow Factor
You can't get much more Rock N Roll attitude than a python covered amp. It has great sex appeal. The Vintage 30 gives it the tone it's looking for. Plus it is extremely practical based on its supreme performance. And the ladies dig it!
