This bass is solid......smooth playing and a clear growling tone that can be dialed back if needed. The 3-way PUP switch I truly love! I have always had either both PUPs on or one or the other. I never did any blending so the 3 way switch perfect for my style. The neck on this is absolutely one of the most comfortable necks you can put your hands on. The hip shot is pretty awesome also, more novelty for me the useful but it is there just in case. The PUP configuration is just what I've longed for and this bass definately delivered. No battery to be concerned about is also nice, but I still need my 5-string for certain performances so this Fretless Monster has completed my stage arsenal.

I have been pondering this purchase for awhile, finally pulled the trigger; and it was a good choice! The bass incorporates the best features of the Jazz & P-bass, excellent fit and finish as well. Once I got the neck pick-up adjusted, it had a tone that really sang. The Jazz bridge has a great bite and bark, but this being my 1st fretless; I don't have anything to compare it to. I do have an active Jazz Bass & a G&L l1500,both are great; but this adds a different sound and playing style missing. It has really changed the way I approach the instrument. It takes a little getting used to, but once you do;it will open new avenues. Very pleased all around! The only thing I don't care for is the Vintage style bridge, I replaced it with a Hipshot A-style brass bridge. Improved tone and sustain. Oh and it is kinda pricey, but that's the norm these days unfortunately!!

Wonderful instrument. 3 way PUP makes a big difference. I've gotten so many compliments on the tone for this thing, no matter what I'm running through. Ive had both flats and rounds on it and it kills. Its lightweight too!

"Excellent playing and sounding fretless bass"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I've been playing for a long time and this is by far the best fretless bass I've ever played. The bony neck is nice and hard and stands up to round wound strings. I used DR sunbeams like the originals that come with the bass. The pickups balance very nicely and the bass csn get anywhere from a nice bottomy sound to a middy jazzy type of sound. You can make this bass sound like a fretted bass if you are precise enough with your intonation, it is that good. The only thing I didn't like was having a separate volume control for each pickup so I had a Luthier put one in and had the jack put on the side of the body. I highly recommend this bass for any fretless player. The neck feels small and almost Jazz-like. It doesn't have fret lines which I dislike anyway but has side dots at 1st 3rd 5th, 7th positions etc. It is very easy to play, this could easily be your only bass, it sounds that good.

I've been playing for 50+ years. I have other Fenders, Rickenbackers and Gibsons

I can and do play most any style but am basically a rock and blues player
