I've been playing for about three years now and this is my first fretless bass and I gotta say its pretty darn cool. I haven't gotten a chance to switch the strings out yet because it comes with flatwounds which I prefer roundwounds. I bought it for one of the bands I play in, it's a rock/jazz/blues fusion and I've been using a regular P Bass for it which gives it the rock aspect but I wanted to get that blues feel to the bass that was missing and this bass really does the trick. Only problem I had with it was right out of the box I had to adjust the truss rod when I tuned it to standard, not a bad thing though since its new I wasn't suprised. So I give it 5 stars, if your looking for your first fretless bass then look no further cause its definitely worth what you pay.

Fender Fretless J-Bass Customer Review

Sound
I've been a bassist for 25 years and this by far is the best sounding fretless yet. It stands #2 in my collection of 8 guitars (my first being a custom build) as it has remarkable tone, sustain, balance and all around playability. Initial versatility rates an 8 due to the tonal infractions being fretless and all, but once you warm up to a fretless this beast rolls!
