Picture doesn't do it justice. It looks amazing! Mine played perfect out of the box. Just needed some tuning. The sound is perfect for me and the active electronics allow a lot of tone shaping with out needing to touch my amp. The hardware is solid and looks nice.

Musical Background:

Been playing bass for 8 years. Fretless for two exclusively.

This bass really surprised me with its quality of construction, great tone and playability. I'd highly recommend this bass to anyone looking to jump into the fretless world who doesn't want to spend a lot of money and the seasoned player who would like to add the singing quality of a fretless for not a lot of coin.

The build quality is surprisingly good for an affordable instrument. The electronics are not all that powerful, however they are clean and do offer good tone shaping ability. The neck is a good size and shape, not too thin or too flat. The set up was good, although I may adjust it as it settles into the new environment. It is a solid purchase, and I would purchase again.

"Nice And Light"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Over all a very nice and light bass with a good sound for its price....A little bendy in the neck....but that might just be because I need to lighten up on my playing
Sound
I'm still figuring out what each knob does exactly....but so far as I can tell the only one that does much eq adjustment is the bass knob....The mid and treble don't seem to have as broad of a curve....also I haven't heard much difference between the bridge or neck pickups probably because they are so close together
Features
Not that much of an expert here....life how light it is.....only thing I wish it had a recessed Jack on top next to the controls instead of at the bottom.....
Ease of Use
It was my first fretless but at the same time the lines helped alot and within about four hours I caught on pretty quick
Quality
Ober all I haven't seen any major problems but it is only day two....The thing seems sturdy enough.....but the neck is super bendy...literally bending about as I work the finger board on heavier lines or put pressure for extended fours....makes playing in tune even tougher......and when I tightened the truss rod just a little....strings went right to the first fret area even beyond raising the saddles....So more than likely if you want a straight neck....your going to have to raise the nut....if this problem persists I might have to see what kind of neck to replace it with
Value
Yes
Manufacturer Support
This is my first bass from this company....This is also the first new bass I have bought over 300 dollars
The Wow Factor
Its very pretty and cool lookingVery nice scheme for the price

"Great fretless"

I've been playing fretless since 1976. A long time (which means I'm getting old). I had a custom fretless built from my 76 P Bass. I added a custom Birdseye maple neck with an ebony fretboard with vine inlays (you don't want inlays crossing the strings to prevent buzz). No lines. Just brass markers on the top of the neck. I'm a train upright player so fretless is pretty much the only way I go. I've used fretted for specific sound (like slapping).Unfortunately, I lost 4 basses in a house fire a few years ago. One of them was this bass. I'm buying it again because the design and the active pickups (that I added to my custom) are essential to me.I get thrown off at times because I played fretless and upright with no lines. I use muscle memory and my ear. It's worked for over 40 years so I don't pay attention to lines. Hey, Jaco filed down the frets on his J Bass so who am I to argue.I really like the sound and feel of this, even after playing a custom for years. Can't beat this style of active pickups. The neck feels and plays great. For the money this is a nice fretless. If you're a beginner, train your ear and muscle memory and you'll be pleased with this fretless. The only person who could ever tell I was even a hair off-pitch was a blind pianist with perfect pitch. I learned a lot from him.Go fretless if you can and woodshed (practice a lot) and you'll be rewarded with a unique sound only a fretless like this offers.Enjoy!PS: Try Jaco's "Teen Town" on this. You won't be disappointed.
