Overall the guitar is a great one for the money. It's aesthetically pleasing with the Walnut finish and nicely tapered neck. I must have turned it over half a dozen times before I plugged it in. The only thing I noticed was the fret ends could have been polished a little better. They weren't Sharp, but may interfere with finger/hand action. I just touched the ends a little with a fine file , the polished them with triple 0 fine steel wool. Smooth as silk after minimal effort. The tuners are okay, not to much float in them and the hold a tune after the strings are stretched . The stock strings are fine but I'm sure I'll put some Rev Billy strings on it soon. The sound and tone is what struck me the most. It sounds great, with any pedal mix or distortion level. There are some mixes that the G string can be a little obnoxious but I've found that true on other Les Paul models as well. Just adjust your tone a little and it's fine. Movement on the neck and fretboard is quick and effortless whether playing chords or picking out a riff. I would definitely gig out with it, bit I'm more content to use it as a practice guitar. Service from zZounds is quick and painless. Turnaround time was a day.

I'm a total Gibson junkie, except for one Gretsch, and this guitar can hang with guitars that are much more expensive. It still has that Gibson/Epiphone tone, and with a wuick setup was ready to play. Whether you have played for 20 years, or 20 minutes, this is a great choice. It's great for beginners because it doesnt feel cheap, and it's good enough that they wont outgrow it to soon.

So glad I finally made the decision to get this! This guitar is beautiful... the flat black wood grain on the body, the overall worn look, I love it!This is also the lightest guitar I've ever played! I got this to replace my 20 year old epiphone les paul special 2, this is definitely an upgrade!Plus only 2 day shipping

I bought this guitar because I was in need of an upgrade and didn't have too much to spend. The quality of the guitar is perfect for the price point, plays well, feels great. Just a quick change of the strings and it'll play amazingly.

Simple design Les Paul with decent-sounding pickups. This guitar costs less than the sum of its parts, making it a great overall value. Satin finish is very attractive and comfortable. Will probably buy another in different color.

"Requires work, but well-priced"

I bought this specifically to modify, but I will begin with the basics since this is a beginner guitar. It is unfortunate that nearly all beginner guitars need a setup, especially for home-delivered instruments; this guitar is no different. The nut is plastic; this is bad. The nut sucks. I assume plastic nuts are used because their manufacture requires no human intervention. Plastic nuts are sticky and you can't reliably tune this guitar with them, so you have to change it. I bought a bone nut, but whatever you can find is better than what's installed. The action was fine (not great), but the neck pickup was actually touching the high E when fretted above the 12th fret. It is likely that any example will need a random adjustment requiring additional local costs, or simply frustrating a new learner. Just be aware.Otherwise, this is a great example of a computer-made guitar at a great price. I have bought a few recent Epiphones, and they offer great price-to-performance. This is bottom-of-the-barrel and the neck, pickups and such are all aligned. 20 years ago this was not the case. The pickups are better than prior Epiphones I've had, but they are still relatively boring (not muddy like their old pickups, but they're a little flat). That said, for a budding musician, I would recommend an amp upgrade prior to changing the pickups; they're honestly not terrible. That said, I've modded this quite a bit. I'm not done, but it's coming out pretty well.1) I sanded the fret board and polished the frets (to some extent.. I didn't go nuts), followed by some mineral oil. I would recommend this, since it makes the guitar feel and look nicer, although not absolutely necessary. There are tutorials online.2) I changed both pickups. I used two different types that I've been interested in checking out. The specifics are not important, other than to say that this guitar is a great platform for experimenting. That said, there is not room in the control cavity for more pots. I think I can fit a push-pull pot for some coil-splitting/tapping, but there's really no room for more than the provided vol & tone pots and pickup switch.3) I removed the tune-o-matic bushings to get access to a flat portion of the body, upon which I placed an archtop ebony floating bridge. I had to sand it down quite a bit to get it low enough for an electric guitar. It still required me to do the next mod:4) I increased the neck angle with shims to accommodate the stupid bridge I sanded down. I had to remove the neck, and I used metal shims bought from the leading online merchandiser, rather than the more expensive wood shims from the leading online guitar-specific merchandiser.4a) To do this, I also widened the body screw holes for the neck bolts. With the increased neck angle, I needed more room to actually get that angle. Also, body bolt holes should be freely moving anyway..5) I added a Teisco-style end piece to hold the strings. After putting actual guitar strings on it (as opposed to the typical decomposing garbage their shipped with), I have a fun new weird-ass guitar that plays well.

Honestly, I've owned many expensive guitars. All classic brands from GIBSON, FENDER, PRS, PARKER etc. I bought this guitar because Epiphone products are legit for the price and I don't have the funds to keep up with the guitar lifestyle that I have enjoyed in the past. That being said, this is the absolute best "cheap" guitar that a pro or a beginner could buy! This $149 guitar holds tune for years, humbucking pickups (epiphone) sound amazing, action out of the box is wonderful, finish is flat and paint is pretty so no worries, OVERALL, AN AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT GUITAR FOR AMAZINGLY LITTLE MONEY! I love it!!!!!

"Had to file a fret but great guitar after fixing"

They sent me another defective guitar but fortunately after filing down 4th and 5th fret it play very well. Except for the tuners are kinda cheap feeling. They stay in tune pretty good but getting them in tune is a lil frustrating. They feel like they could stop working any secons. Other than that it has a great sound

First of all, I thought I am getting a new instrument, not a used one, on top of that the frets are not filed at all and I got all my fingers bleeding on the fretboard. Just stay away.
