I am not familiar with the argued for Moog pedal by using it. Probably the dials make it a better user friendly device. I like real time change, so anything without a throw/rocker pedal to do this is a sataic device to me...in that case the Roland setup is by far the best..more complicated, more sounds, more everything...and the most expensive as we all know....so I guess that makes the Roland king.
Sound
a myriad of synth sounds...the problem is that every time you use it, one has to accept different settings, which means that every time you use it, the sounds are never the same. The sliders make it nearly impossible to replicate sounds unless you record them on the chart that is provided, but even then, because the sliders are sensitive enough to their positioning, it is mad difficult to be exacting...almost impossible! The sound quality is great! Rich, full sounds...the tracking can be set by adjusting the variance screw underneath....properly adjusted, the tracking is tight for almost all applications. I have been using this pedal together with the Behringer Slow Motion pedal and assorted delay settings....I'm getting massive tones! The percussive sounds are brash and biting....the wind sounds are violin like....the sub bass works beautifully and substitutes well in cases when the guitar needs to be the bass liner.
Features
This device should use dials instead of sliders..then at least the numbers could be remembered for their values...probably too much to ask for a digital read window. Stupid idea to have this as a floor pedal. It should be mounted on a stand like the old design for the Mu-Tron. This makes the most sense to me, seeing that the sliders have to be manually changed, and the best way to change the sounds in real time is to have the freakin' thing handy. The stomp switch then should be a separate box connected by a jack plug cable. With these mods, then, the pedal has mad potentials to be very competitive.
Ease of Use
ok, as it is, it is easy to use....it takes no time to find interesting settings. Just impossible to find them again. So with that in mind, a curious pedal for spontaneous and random settings.
Quality
the sliders get loose, the tabs break...needs to be wrapped when put in the gig bag. Steel enclosure makes it pretty durable otherwise.
Value
This product could probably be priced for less, but they are getting what the market fetches for it....a little steep, but a device that can separate your potential style(s) from the pack. Sort of like an investment in originality, maybe.
Manufacturer Support
My pedal stopped working for no apparent reason....a loosened connect inside?...called them up, was given an authorization code to mail it in, and my pedal was expertly repaired..a side of sliders completely replaced..for no charge except for the cost of the mailing TO! They even paid for the return send.
The Wow Factor
a great pedal for the sonic soundscape artist! Nifty for getting all of those 'in-between' sounds.

"Not what I was looking for"

I compared this with the key 9 and it did not deliver. the voice effects and sweep effects are ok, but the pedal does not sustain the notes.. not to mention that it is for single note lines and sounds horrible with chords. I was looking for the synth like sounds found on most keyboards and was disappointed. I had it after the dirt on my pedal board and it didn't even work. Yes, I even adjusted the pre gain feature.Moved it in front of the compressor...it worked but the sounds quickly faded. If you are looking for some synth sounds with wow factor...keep looking...My first Electro-harmonix product

"Buy a Moogerfooger instead."

Overall: 1.5 out of 5 stars

I am returning this pedal for a Moogerfooger, which is far more able to produce the kind of synth sounds I'm looking for. If you are looking for legit synth-like sounds to make with a guitar, this is absolutely not the answer. Go with Moog.
Sound
Really ugly tone on pretty much any setting. I tried playing with it for weeks to try and find some sort of acceptable setting. Never found it.
Features
There is essentially nothing much this pedal can do as far as "synth" sounds go, except for percussive synth sounds. It does those very well, but other than that, you've got nothing.
Ease of Use
Easy to use. Manual is quite clear. Takes some patience to understand.
Quality
I bought this after I bought the Electro Harmonix POG. The POG was so good, I thought I should buy this as well, but it was a mistake. The quality of this pedal is nowhere near the excellence of the POG. The tracking is absolutely awful. You can't play a chord on any of the settings except for the clean guitar signal. On the other settings, it's essentially just distortion.
Value
This pedal is not worth the money at all. It should be 70-100 dollars cheaper. Pretty useless.
Manufacturer Support
Didn't have to deal with them.
The Wow Factor
It looks cool. That's pretty much it.

This pedal is an absolute necessity for guitarists who want their style to take the shape of modern players like John Scofield. The possibilities are endless, and it's very fun creating your own synths.

this is point blank not a synthesizer.
Sound
The few sounds that you can get out of this piece of crap are tinny and lame. It doesn;t sound ANYTHING like an analog synth. More like a dying violinist. The notes are cut off eventually no matter where you set the filter, making playing a pain in the ass. You can get one or two good sounds out of it but you can't play multiple strings, let alone chords, or even have another string vibrate as you play.
Features
just the box.
Ease of Use
negative infinity would be more accurate.
Quality
product is solid but the sliders will break eventually, i can feel it. KNOBS KNOBS KNOBS!!!
Value
this is a one trick pony; as such, $100 max!!
Manufacturer Support
never dealt with them but heard good things
The Wow Factor
it's ok looking; bulky though.
