Feature:
The manual for this puppy is HUGE because this is a full featured MIDI controller, endlessly configurable for whatever application you might need it for. Far beyond your usual DAW software, this could conceivably control any piece of MIDI gear ever made.
Quality:
Very sturdy -- far more sturdy than I anticipated. The build quality is very good. The sliders, knobs, keys, and mod-lever all feel very solid to me.
Value:
Compare it to other MIDI controllers capable of what the PCR-30 is capable of and you'll quickly see it's definitely one of the least expensive and full-featured in its class.
Desirability:
It's silver and has some nice curves. The keys feel nice and it feels good to slide the levers up and down.
Sound:
Not applicable.
Support:
Haven't anything go wrong with it. Edirol's website is very good and the PCR editor software (free) is a sign of their committment to supporting this product.
Overall:
I wouldn't trade this for any other MIDI interface/keyboard on the market. Roland/Edirol have been making keyboards for years and it shows in the build quality of this unit. If you have a larger 61- or 76- key keyboard as I do, this makes an excellent addition to your setup, something you can plop on the desk and have at hand when you really need it. If you are into computer music and don't have a keyboard, this will suit your needs (provided you don't want to play any Bach Tocattas on it... buy the 61-key version for that ;)
