The DW Pancake drum is actually pretty darn cool, especially for $249.00!The drum produces a deep low end with hardly any sustain. Another words, a deep attack.I personally keep it on my left side (I’m a right handed drummer) to add a bit more flavor to my rhythms and fills.Everything about this drum is solid, everything!The inside of the drum, reverse of where the mounting clamp gets screwed on to, is a metal plate to add reinforcement to the shell. I had concerns about the strength of the shell in regards to the mounting of it. There is nothing to worry about! It’s all good! DW nails it again with this drum.Being that isnis sp shallow, it was be silly for DW to make a Performance or a Collectors versions of this. This drum sounds great as a Desogn series.I use this drum with my 100% Cherry wood Collectors kit.Check it out. Ya don’t like it, zZounds will take it back. Fast deep/low attack.Who cares about the rest of these question. It has a fast deep/low attack. That’s what you should only need to know right now.
Features
I wish there was a rubber grommet on the bottom of the drum. The drum is like a super shallow concert tom. Being so shallow, having a grommet will not affect the sound one bit.

Set it up to your liking, then it’s ease is.... well, easy. :)

I do a lot of tom work during our worship services. I have always wanted a Gong Drum but space is tight in my drum enclosure. This fit my needs perfectly, it sounds amazing, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
