Dean Playmate JT 3/4-Size Acoustic Guitar (with Gig Bag)

The Dean Playmate JT 3/4-Size acoustic is a great choice for younger players. With a mahogany neck and satin finish, the Playmate JT 3/4-size feels great.

REALLY LIKE this little guitar. A bit smaller than standard 3/4, but that’s fine. I’ve played guitar off/on for 40 years and 3/4 guitars are my guitar of choice for all around ease and comfort. This is waaaay better than any First Act product, skip those. It sounds nice and for the smaller adult hands and beginner player it’s great. Ease of chording due to size and string set up is very easy. A reviewer gave a bad review, one of his points was “I never saw a fret 1/4 up the neck”. They did not know what they were talking about, it’s very common on smaller guitars and has zero to with anything. Fun little guitar. Great for travel and good beginner for smaller hands.

Got this for my daughter who doesn't live with me, she never would mess with it so her brother tried it out. He said it had a missing string and brought it back to me. Turns out the tuner key fell apart. I took it in and got a replacement tuner and new strings which are now a waste of time and money being the guitar will not tune. Also look closely at the neck nut which fell out also. It has a fret 1/4" from the nut. Not even supposed to have a fret there. Peice of crap, kids will not stay excited to learn from this thing, don't buy it.

Sound
Horrible.

Looks good.
Ease of Use
Will not tune to a satisfying sound.
Quality
Feels well made regardless of how bad the sound is.
Value
Great if you want a toy. If you want a real guitar look elsewhere.

"Decent, but no Cigar"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Excellent guitar for beginners and children. If you are older with large fingers- I would NOT reccommend this guitar.
Sound
Pretty good sound for such a small guitar. I was impressed.
Features
Nothing really knocked my socks off when it came to features.
Ease of Use
Very difficult to use if you have large fingers. The action is so small, I couldnt get the pads of my fingers between the strings to play some of the more chllenging chords.
Quality
Decent quality. DEifinitely just one to "strum around" on.
Value
I wouldnt say this has a lot of value. I was dissapointed when I was forced to stop playing because I couldnt hit some of the chords.
Manufacturer Support
Very good support when I reached the company.
The Wow Factor
Decent look, but the size really threw me off.

"Unbeatable Value! Great Sound!"

Excellent value.
Sound
I would put this up against some of the $250 travel size taylors in sound. It sounds really good!
Features
Guitar. 6 Strings. I think that it came with a nylon bag. Tuners work well and are consistent which is surprising on an instrument at this price.
Ease of Use
Very Good. Guitar. Tune it and play. Acoustic pin - bridge takes some getting used to for this electric player on the first go round but it is the standard. The guitar stays in tune! I can pick it up and play it and it is 99% in tune almost all of the time - and I live in Florida.
Quality
Fit and finish are better than what one would expect at this price but not as nice as the Taylors/Martins (see comment above).
Value
Excellent. I can leave this in the living room and not have a heart attack when the kids who I (sort of) originally got it for crash into it.
Manufacturer Support
NA - Have not used. Information on the company is fairly hard to find, but they are getting more popular with the Dimebag models.
The Wow Factor
I would buy another. I would specify the color. I was not aware of this and wound up with a pink guitar - not bad but would have prefered a natural finish.

Bought this guitar for my 4 year old son... must admit that I am enjoying it just as much if not more! Great guitar at a great price! Well constructed and fun to play!
