This compressor doesn't really "compress" or "squeeze" my sound. Instead, it raises or lowers the level of the lows or highs, independently. For instance, if your low frequencies come out (naturally) louder than your highs, then you can choose your crossover point and raise your highs (or lower your lows) to make your overall sound more balanced. To me, the results are much more natural and dynamic than other compressors I've tried.Other compressors I've used (usually not specific to bass guitar) have that obviously compressed sound when you hit the threshold, which can make your instrument lose some of its natural voice and character. Sometimes that sound is cool, but the DigiTech Bass Squeeze Compressor lets my basses retain their natural, woody character, while still doing what a compressor is supposed to do -- balance my signal. On top of that, the construction is very well-built. Just as tough as a Boss, but Boss doesn't make a compressor that sounds this good.I love it.
