"Put your own stamp on your sound with the bp200"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Would replace it with the same or upgraded model if one existed for bass.
Sound
exceptional accuracy from the amp/cabinet sounds. With the option to model my own preset sounds I can make each song unique and even musos in the audience can't quite figure what is going on. he other band members love the sound too as it gives our band a sound/feel that is not easy to replicate.
Features
no power supply provided & on the bp200 the verification part of setting up the unit is a bit of a pain. It should automatically be pedal responsive to the units sounds output annd in bypass mode.
Quality
tuning leds could be a bit more distinctive or have an led note display.Very roadworthy product.
Value
yes
Manufacturer Support
Speaking to company reps they were fantastic.
The Wow Factor
practical addition to my set up and sound.

"Serious tool for live performance."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I'm not going to part with this thing as long as it keeps working. If it gets lost or stolen, I might replace it, or I might take the opportunity to trade up. That's the thing about digital audio gadgets -- the technology gets better and cheaper pretty rapidly.
Sound
Digital modeling only get you so far, but this unit sounds pretty good in most of the patches. The autowah algorithm is a difficult to tweak so that it triggers properly and shapes the Q envelope in a useful way. The speaker modeling isn't particularly subtle. Editing the chorus effect takes some trial and error. The reverb patches are not especially distinguished, but are quite usable. I bought this unit to replace a pedal board full of gadgets in my live rig, and it serves that purpose perfectly. I might have some doubts about using it in the studio. As with any multieffect, some of the preset patches are just plain silly, and most of them benefit from judicious editing. The distorted sounds are decent. The octave patch is as good as a Boss OD-3 (my standard for live octave gadgets). The amp models range from sexy to ugly; anyone should be able to find four or five that work for them. And yes, this device flattens dynamics and sucks some tone (especially on the more extreme patches) -- but that's just the nature of effects in general. My advice is, stick with subtle, and save the wacky stuff for one or two standout passages.
Features
No power supply included. Purchased separately. The best feature, in my opinion, is the editing interface, which is common to many Digitech multieffect devices. Easy to change (even on a dark stage 2 minutes before show time), once you understand the parameter matrix concept. More than enough slots for user-edit patches.
Ease of Use
I have no problems coaxing good tones out of this unit. Your mileage may vary, and depends on your willingness to edit your own patches. The expression pedal takes some getting used to -- I use mine strictly for volume now, although I like the idea of using it to control triggering sensitivity for certain patches (like autowah). The tuner works reasonably well, but I rarely use it.
Quality
Sturdy, solid, should last me a while. No backup -- without it, I could still get through a gig (although it might not be quite as much fun). Generally, construction quality is good.
Value
Plenty of features for the price. And in my case, it may save me some medical costs associated with hauling a giant pedalboard around, ha ha.
Manufacturer Support
No dealings with Digitech support. Perhaps that tells you something.
The Wow Factor
Cosmetics are so-so. But on the floor of a dark stage or dim tavern, who cares?

"BP200 Bass Processor - fun to play with!"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Aside from the B-Stock not working (promptly replaced without question - thanks again) I'm satisfied with this gadget. If you are looking for a dramatic advance in your sound, however, as a bass player with many years of professional experience, I'd say just practice. Foot pedals aren't gonna get you far in this world as a musician.
Sound
Some interesting sounds."Fretless bass" sound disappointing. "B-Stock" unit did not work, new unit does work fine - I am sure I will find some interesting use for this versatile device.
Features
As with many bass processors, this has a lot of features that are seemingly just carried over from guitar units - speaker cabinet modeling is pretty good, I'm going to need some time to develop my own settings for this to be really useful, however. At ther price, it was worth getting just to play with.
Ease of Use
Presets aren't that great, but there are a lot of possibilities here.
Quality
Well made, sturdy. After two bad experiences ordering "B-Stock" equipment, I'd say only buy brand new stuff online. Otherwise, shop at your local independent music store for used or demo equipment.
Value
Good value.
Manufacturer Support
Excellent support, thank you.
The Wow Factor
Just something to play with, see what I can do with it.

"good basic pedal, easy to use!"

ive bought more expensive multi effects pedals that had way too much stuff, this one is just right, if you need simple programmable effects and not a lot of crap with it, this is it!!! i saved a bunch of sounds the first few days, this unit is good for Wah type effects, but if you want the real deal, you have to just buy the real one Cry Baby Bass Wah! this is good for all other effects! Chorus, Distortion, reverb, delay....etc.... this unit has most everything but the Wah features arent as user friendly....i like them but i like a straight up real WAH better! everything is usable but WAH is tougher to manage.... just a thought. i haven't had to use manufacturer's support, so i didnt give it a applicable rating.....great product for the price!

"BP200 pedal, "close, but no cigar""

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will keep it untill if freezes up again. then I will probably "off it" on EBAY. I wish the lights on the tuner were either brighter or larger. I wish you could combine more than one effect at a time. there is some white noise output when you are not playing, if you are running high power (2x400 watts is what I use) you have to have to yank the vol. down between numbers or if your amp has a mute switch that will work too.
Sound
I use it mainly for the tuner and volume pedal. I was dissapointed with the chorus, it is too shallow. the delay is great. I edited two presets to give me a "solo" setting by adding more mids and highs and a little delay. the case is well built and solid. I do not use the amp or cab settings because they interfere with the EQ on my HARTKE 4000 head. Anyone who has a small amp or a practice amp might find these settings very usefull for geting a fuller sound out of what they are using. I have had SEVERAL occasions when the unit cut out and once the tuner froze up. My dealer said the problem was with the power supply, time will tell.
Features
delay is good, wah is lame. chorus is shallow, octave divider is pretty good. Tuner can be a little jumpy untill you get used to it. Just hit the string ONCE with a good stroke, judge the reference about 1 second after you hit it.
Quality
it is pretty solid. It has FAILED several times since I bought it,the dealer replaced the power pack and assured me that was the problem. (time will tell). I will not TRUST it for about another 3 to 6 months.
Value
I think it is a little overpriced. its worth about a hundred bucks in my opinion.
Manufacturer Support
the local dealer quickly helped me when the unit froze up. have not contacted them myself.
The Wow Factor
I bought it because I needed a volume pedal and tuner. Seperately I would have paid about $ 60 for the ernie ball pedal and about 150 for a rack tuner. so I opted for this toy. looks and apperance had no influence on my decision.

"Don't Waste Your Money"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This thing simply did not live up to my expectations.
Sound
I have owned this pedal for almost 10 years. The sounds are just lame. Many of the presets outputs are at different levels, which makes it useless for live playing - you switch from one preset to another and your volume can vary by 50%.
Features
Should come with a power supply. Making your own patches is quite difficult.
Ease of Use
I have given up on using this - bought a Korg AX3000B which is light years better and easier to use to boot, although it is about four times as big - and it came with a power supply.
Quality
After a couple of months I noticed a rattling coming from inside the case - opened it up and one of the screws holding the PC board had come loose and was rattling around in the case - ridiculous. Re-installed all the screws with Lok-Tite
Value
Buy separate effects - the Boss ones are quite good, and the Behringers are an amazing deal. Or get a better multi-effects pedal.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't used it.
The Wow Factor
I haven't used this in years. I really should put it on eBay.

"all ull need to know bofore buying the BP200"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
good for what it is but i grew out of it quickly if i had my choice again id buy a row of seperate pedals. the best of the multi effects in the price range but its worth saving those pennies for a real pedal
Sound
some of the sounds are quite good but you have to do some fiddling to get them really nice. alot of them sound like guitar effects which was quite dissapointing cause they dont suit the bass. i thought they could have done better
Features
the wah i liked but i was a little dissapointed with the fretless simulator, the reverb and amp models are also really good. shame you cant jump effects tho, and the scroll it to fast to stop with any accuracy. the tuner is also really jumpy and can be quite aggrovating when tuning in a hurry. there are also alot of gimicky effects ull never use in a band
Quality
good for a multi effects pedal the fact that it is metal is also good cause you know it wont break. the expression pedal can creak sometimes which makes solos sound....wierd
Manufacturer Support
dont know i bought it in the US and i live in Australia so i dont think ill b using this bit
The Wow Factor
looks pretty cool but doesn't have the sex appeal of having 5 or 6 pedals at your feet
