The Crate TX50DB has been around for a few years. I've had mine since MARS Music went out of business, probably about 9 or 10 years now. I have had to replace the battery, but other than that, this little unit has been a real gem. Originally purchased to play bass through at the beach and at bonfires where there is usually not an outlet, I have used this amp for so much more. It makes a great little portable "boombox" wit an I-pod plugged in through the RCA jacks. It also makes for a great practice amp. You can plug in your guitar or bass along with the I-pod and even a microphone all at the same time and play and sing right along or plug in headphones and practice quietly. The onboard effects are just enough to add a little sumpin-sumpin to enhance vocals or music output.Love the Limo!

Crate TX50DB Limo Series Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I'm a performing singer-songwriter who plays many outside gigs, as well as inside, and the Limo is the bomb. I plug in a mic and a guitar and off I go. A great step up from the Taxi, if only for the powerful battery that holds a charge longer, it seems. I can't say enough about it. I'm ready to do a commercial for them ;) After playing with a lot of different gear, this is my #1 choice. Have had a Taxi amp for more than a decade and the Limo for about 5 years. Still going strong.
Value
A little on the pricy side for some musicians, but well worth the investment. Just don't lose the charger... sigh.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to deal with support. Had to get a knob fixed on the Taxi, but it didn't cost much. Went to a local shop.

"best sound for reasonable price... needs control cover for transport."

just put on the cover for the control area.
Sound
probably the best sound youre going to get from an acoustic guitar amp... then theres the pa side. its very exceptional, too. there are acoustic guitar amps that are as good... but much more expensive. the limo is as good, and cheaper. and a great little pa for voice. ive had one for 6 years and have used it quite a lot, especially in the last year when i went solo, again. it sounds so good, that i ordered another, even though i have a full pa system with jbl eons, power amp, eq and mixer. the size and weight of this unit(s), and the sound(s) is so attractive, im leaving the full pa system at home. i use one for small to medium size rooms, and will use 2 of them, for anything larger or outside. absolutely, cant beat the sound. the only downside is the openly exposed pots... crate needs to creat a built in cover for them during transport. then this unit would be PERFECT. randy z
Features
a built in cover for the controls. they are much too exposed for transport.
Ease of Use
controls are a little touchy, but you can get use to them and find wonderful sounds for solo acoustic guitar and vocal. hard to beat.
Quality
still needs that cover for the controls during transport. ARE YOU LISTENING CRATE, as you claim that you are... rz
Manufacturer Support
called em once to find out if you can link two of these in series... you can via the insert. just go in one click. they were helpful.
