Main Problem: muddy sound in the church hall due to stage monitors reflecting sound off the wall behind the altar, and messing with the clarity of the loudspeakers people are supposed to be hearing. Secondary problem: musicians who think their music needs to be louder than the singers' voices. Solution to both: Jam Hub. We connected drums, keyboard, and 2 guitars into the smaller version of Jam Hub (larger version hosts 6 inputs), and stuck the singing voices (composite output from the sound board) into the fifth port labeled "Remote", and got rid of that loud monitor entirely. Immediately, the sound in the hall cleared up. Audience happy, singers happy, musicians happy. Now each musician gets to hear themselves, their buddies, and the singers, at whatever volume and mix they dial into their individual headphones. All the instrument sound to the house is controlled through the master sound board - that's me - and I get to set the instrument volume vs. the singer volumes the way it sounds best in the hall. The stage monitor is gone, muddy interference effect is gone, and the volume of ear-damaging monitor noise on stage is cut in half. Next up: getting the vocal quartet to wear earphones, so we can buy a second jam hub for them, and get rid of the other stage monitor too. Don't hold your breath on that one.
