I was impressed first with the packaging - three boxes and a half, paper and bubble wrap, plastic bag. Nothing was going to hurt this short of a truck running over it. The quality of workmanship, wood, set up - amazing! I don't know how to play it yet, but just handling it and plucking at the strings I can make sounds better than a couple I'd tried at a music store. BTW the store wanted to price match, but couldn't do it. They buy them for more. Truss rod, coated strings, beautiful finish and detail. I'm allergic to nickel, so the strings on the Breedlove are D’Addario EXP74 - coated so perfect for me. Was able to go online and learn G, C, D chords and play them easily...now for more! I was scared to commit to an online purchase of a mandolin, but I'm happy that I did. Oh, and I ordered it on Wednesday and it arrived on Saturday morning! Amazing!

First I'd like to commend ZZounds on there fast efficient shipping and discounted pricing. As for the Breedlove Crossover 00 it's a delightful mid to lower ranged priced oval holed mandolin. Rings like a bell. I'm a professional guitar tech and it came out of the box setup, string height adjusted, intonation perfect. No finish flaws, binding flaws, or dead frets. From working as a tech for over 30 years I've seen a little bit of everything. For the cost and an import I'm impressed. Good beginners to intermediate players instrument.

"So Glad I Decided On This Model"

I had a mandolin years ago, so when deciding on which model to get this time around, I was pleasantly surprised to find this one. As a guitar player, translating to the small neck of the mandolin can be a little challenging. The Breedlove Crossover OO model is a solid instrument, and has a nice volume and tone that can carry its own in a small group setting. I am enjoying this instrument immensely and would recommend it for anyone, but in particular guitar players who want a mandolin with a bit of a wider neck than a standard mandolin.

Multi-instrumentalist, play at home, recording, jamming, gigging

For my level of ability, this model from Breedlove is completely satisfactory. The sound is clean, fairly loud and I am surprised at the amount of sustain it has. I find myself strumming chords lightly so as to not make too much noise. I thought the radiused fretboard would be a highlight, but I've never noticed the difference while playing!

Musical Background:

Piano, harmonica, ukulele and mandolin. Been around sheet music and piano since a child.

Musical Style:

Blues, Celtic, Americana
