I love Ashdown bass gear. I've had their MAG series combos and heads as well as some of the ABM line. From the specs, this seemed like a great upgrade from the MAG 300 head with the tube preamp. I'm still not 100% sure if something was just wrong with mine, but I could not dial in a good sound. The tubes start to break up way to quickly so it was impossible to get a clean sound out of it. One of the things I loved about Ashdown was that I could dial in a clean sound for my upright bass and a good overdriven sound on my electric. So, after working with this head for a couple of weeks to find a good sound, I just couldn't. I returned it and the search has started over again. It also seemed grossly underpowered. I am running a 4 ohm Fender 410 cabinet, so I should have been drawing the max power out of it. It wasn't much louder than my combo amp that I use for small gigs and has half the rated power. I'll probably try Ashdown again at some point, but it will no longer be their China produced lines that are based on the MAG platform.

I'm pretty impressed with this amp. It is well built, simple and sounds great. It's rated at 300 watts and is probably pretty accurate. Not the most powerful amp but is loud enough for practice and medium sized gigs. It has a DI out if you need to go through the house system/PA.
