perfect amp for what i do, i recomend it to anyone who is wantin to jam around with friends and playin say a small coffee house gig wednesday night church, anything like that.
Sound
the sound is amazing, very tight and reponsive. Only thing is i could use a little more low end but it will work for becuase i am just the occasional small gig and jam guy. 220 watts is about right for me, maybe i could use a little more head room. Overall Sound kicks major ass.
Features
i like the style knob, i dont change it much though.
Quality
this thing is a tank, i wore myslef out getting it out of the box
Value
i couldnt find one under 699.00 so yeh, a bit pricey but the quality and sound are all worth it.
The Wow Factor
it a mean lookin amp

Ampeg BA210 Bass Amp Customer Review

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Like I said it is a great product but it is not particulary what I needed. I am going to a bigger halfstack and am going to give that a go, but overall this a great combo amp.
Sound
I think this thing sounds great at lower to middle levels. It gets a bit distorted when played loud. I know it is just a little combo amp but it does not kick enough bass for me. In smaller rooms it works well for gigging but the bass does not fill a room. It gets fairly loud, but I'm playing with a guitar player who has 4x12 cab and a ridiculous amount of power......he also has a penchant for turning up, my drummer is also extremely loud so I'm at the end of this things ability. I have had this amp for 4 months and have loved it but unfortunately I need something a bit bigger (unfortunately big and cheap do not go together). I'm going to try the ampeg B2R halfstack. I listened to one the other day and it sounds much beefier.......130 watts more power and a 4x10. Anyway if you are looking for a great sounding combo amp and are not expecting to gig anything but small bars this bad boy is great. Just remember you are buying a combo amp and don't ecpect it to do things combo amps won't do....(like me)
Features
It's got fairly decent eq ability. There is a swithch that allows you to pick an eq range (1-5), 1 being lower 5 being much higher. then it has low, mid, and high controls that help shape the sound within the range selected. It has a built in chromatic tuner with a mute switch which I found to be very useful and pretty accurate. Great for stage tuning and practice tuning. For recording I would go with a higher end more accurate tuner. It has a direct out, a little noisy but it works fine. It has inputs for passive and active basses. The horn is a nice feature, but I find I do not use very much of it. I wish you could connect another cabinet to it. But you cannot. They sell a version of this amp with effects, which I listened too and found to be lacking. I however already have some pretty nice effects and did not need them. For the money it costs extra to get the one with effects they are worth it. It is not laden with every trick in the book but what it does have is useful and qaulity. P.s it also has a cd in so you can play cd's through it and play along with them I guess....I have never used this.
Quality
Seems rugged, looks good sitting on a stage. Although I like to set it up on something to get the sound up at ear heigth. Funny thing at most bars people are not sitting on the floor. I have taken care of it and do not allow it to be slammed around. I take it seperately to gigs in my backseat so it dooes not get beat but It looks like it could take a few kicks. Plus the name ampeg just says qaulity. I've heard people say that you are just buying a name and that these are not real ampegs....well it may not be an svt classic..but compared to other combo's I've listened to it is ampeg through and through.
Value
It is a bit expensive. But it is a very nice little amp. If you want the convenience of a combo amp and are not playing larger joints than why not pay the extra for a nice qaulity amp.
Manufacturer Support
never dealt with them, although I have heard that they are top notch
The Wow Factor
I have it, so I guess I wanted it. I am going to trade this amp in or sell it so I may get a bigger ampeg. I will probably trade that in and get a nicer model. I have loved this little amp since I've gotten it. It looks good, sounds good, and has made me a loyal ampeg customer. I have played guitar for fifteen years and bass for the past three. This is the first amp I have bought that I have actually become a brand fan from. I have owned Marshall's and Fender's and currently have my Mesa boogie. I will own only one brand of bass amplification.....AMPEG

"Mean but clean"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I just bought this amp and I am more than pleased with it. It is a beast, heavy and a good size, but after the struggle to get it in place, WOW! The sound produced is round and clean. There is an adjustment that gives you five different levels of sounds, you can dial up your dab’s along with the gain and master vol. The tuner is good but it tunes a little sharp and that’s ok. I am blessed to ha come across this amp used for believe it or not, drum roll please….. $149.00 it was used but in great condition and I am so pleased.
